Is Maccas safe for human consumption?

Did Jamie Oliver Prove McDonald’s Burgers
Are Unfit for Human Consumption?

An outdated controversy about McDonald's use of beef treated with ammonium hydroxide resurfaced on social media.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver proved that the meat in McDonald's hamburgers is "unfit for human consumption" due to the use of beef trimmings treated with bacteria-killing ammonium hydroxide.

Healthy food supporter Jamie Oliver took on the biggest fast food joint in the world, and he won.

He managed to get the multi national corporation to admit that their burger meat was sub-standard and have vowed to change it.

Oliver highlighted how McDonald’s used ammonium hydroxide to ‘wash’ their beef before it was made into hamburgers, in order to make it fit for human consumption, without this stage the food would not have been legal to sell by nationwide standards. Meat that has not been treated in this way is usually used for dog and cat food.

The ammonium hydroxide is used as an anti-microbial agent which basically acts as a catalyst to turn ‘inedible’ meat into burgers.

    Oliver said:

“Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold in the cheapest way for dogs, and after this process, is being given to human beings.”

I did a 4-week diet of no junk food or alcohol. In the last week, my stomach started getting it regular growls again and I restarted enjoying food. I had a few nights drinking moderately. Then I had Red Rooster the following night. I felt worse for the experience. Now, I have to reacquaint myself with good health. But, I can remember that I have never felt good after eating at McDonalds. McDonalds is an emergency feed. Not a meal.

It actually gives me intestinal pains for 1 day afterwards.
My guts can't cope with it -
it must be all the chemicals they put into it
to kill the bacteria - the preservatives.

It would be safer to eat from Maccas than a Chinese takeaway shop.

You have to know the Chinese shops before you can trust them.
I once lived near an Asian part of Melbourne and
I got food poisoning 5 times in the space of 3 years from the takeaway shops there.
Once I went behind some shops there
and I saw restaurant meat being thawed out in the hot sun in a back alley way.
There were stray cats sniffing around it.
Most of those Asians have no idea about food hygiene.
I don't know how they get a license?

I actually agree. I have only had one or two bad meals out of the hundreds I have had at McDonalds since I started eating there as a teen. Chinese takeaway stores have given me a dozen bad food experiences in the 50 times I have eaten there.
