If it was a full-on nuclear war
What sense is there in being a prepper
I would advise going and jumping off the nearest tall building or hoping that a nuke landed on top of your house
So it would be best to perish as soon as possible

A far more likely situation is that a foreign power or a foreign cyber terrorism group will shut down the power grid
Or shut down banking facilities
Or there will be an inability to import fuel for 3 months

I would consider that reasonably likely

If any of those things happen there is going to be a period of chaos in large cities
Think about a situation where you cannot access your credit card and your power is out for 4 weeks
No running water
No petrol able to be pumped at the servo
You could seriously be in a lot of trouble if you do not have at least the basics covered for a month

For under $1,000 you can have enough fuel a generator enough tinned food and maybe a rainwater tank and some means to protect yourself

Do you really want to be down at the local Woolworths in the dark
Trying to smash your way into the store next to the machete wielding Apex gang
To secure a supply of baked beans

It's not prepping for Doomsday it's just a sensible insurance policy

If you don't use it you can always go camping for a couple of weeks in The great outdoors

Our greatest problem is petrol and diesel.

Australia relies on imports - about 90 per cent - for the majority of its petrol supply.

Petrol is certainly vulnerable
I don't think people realise how important it is

The agricultural industry has done some studies
And $100 worth of fuel in a tractor
Does as much manual labour
As would require $20,000 in wages to hire manual labourers

For what fuel does for us
It is incredibly cheap and taken-for-granted

And yes one little war in the Persian gulf or the South China sea
And tankers stop travelling

And good luck with your food production then

In that case there'll be no Big Mac for you.

Is Maccas safe for human consumption?

Depends on your priorities enough of it could preserve your body for ten thousand years but the preservation process would be likely to commence a bit earlier than preferred.

I can remember when a big Mac looked like the burger in the picture.

I can buy 500 grams of beef and make 4 burgers with a patty the size of a quarter pounder, that works because a 1/4 pound is a bit over 100 grams. It sounds like more than it is.

The original junior burger bun was probably bigger than the current big mac bun.

1/4 of a pound is 113 grams.
I can make much better hamburgers than any fast food place - it's easy.
I even toast the buns.

There are occasions where i have no chioce, i just grin and bear it knowing i will start to feel slightly ill within minutes of the burger and for at least 24hrs after, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger in moderation.

Dogs won't eat Maccas "food"

Here's another doggo that won't touch McDonalds, knows its poison.

Homeless dog refuses to eat McDonalds,
this definitely tells you the state of the junk food we are being fed today
when starving dogs won't touch.

Although a Diver. I do get sea-sick on Boats from time to time.
I found that if I'm sick, once ashore - I go get some McDonalds to sit 'heavy' in my stomach and the nausea soon settles.

A McDonald's made a pair of 10-year-olds work without pay and
sometimes until 2 a.m., federal authorities say

...

Matthew Loh
Wed, May 3, 2023

A McDonald's made 10-year-olds work for no pay and until 2 a.m., per the Labor Department.

The franchisee told Insider that the kids were visiting their parent, who worked as a night manager.

The children would work the register and drive-thru, and one kid was allowed to use a deep fryer.

Bauer Food was fined $39,711, the department said.

Another two McDonald's operators —
Archways Richmond and Bell Restaurant Group —
were also fined for allowing minors to work beyond legally permitted hours.

A McDonald's in Kentucky has been fined for hiring two unpaid 10-year-old children and at times making them work as late as 2 a.m., the Department of Labor said.

The pair of children was employed by Bauer Food LLC, a Louisville-based operator of 10 McDonald's restaurants, the department said in a Tuesday statement.

The two children would prepare and distribute food orders, clean the restaurant, work at the drive-thru window, and operate a register, the labor department said.

Investigators also found that one of the 10-year-olds was allowed to work a deep fryer, a "prohibited task for workers under 16 years old," per the statement.
