My thoughts -
then you need to define normal and rational.
Is jumping out of an aeroplane with a parachute a normal and rational behaviour?
What is normal for one person may not be normal for another
so the definition lacks soundness or sanity in itself.

therefore I declare the question -
Is There Such A Thing As Sanity

as undefined.

Sanity would be determined by whether you are commonly doing common sense things. You would not be labelled insane for putting the water jug in the cupboard instead of the fridge. But, you would be called insane for driving a kilometre down the road on the wrong side. As an example.
