African (predominantly South Sudanese) youth comprise at least 19 per cent of young people in custody despite being less than 0.5 per cent of Victoria's youth population.

It is unlikely that alleged racial profiling by Victoria Police members is driving the imprisonment rates of African-Australian young people.

Citing Journal of Criminality research:

Findings indicate that Sudanese-born individuals figure prominently in both youth and adult offending categories relative to other major cultural sub-groups. Rates for ‘crimes against the person’ were especially pronounced for Sudanese-born youth and significantly higher than rates for crimes more subject to police discretion (i.e. public order offences).

just about every night
they lead with an African crime story:
car jackings,
home invasions,
rape,
murder,
theft,
muggings,
drug dealing ........

It's out of control.
