Oh, dear.

Looks like the Australian government is going to be caught 'asleep at the wheel' again (dreaming about their precious economy and nothing else).

Quote:
🇦🇺Australian Mpox cases on rise amid global emergency.

And...

https://x.com/mrmickme2/status/1824236483064267158

Quote:
If the WHO is so suddenly concerned about the global proliferation of a supposedly novel or fitness enhanced existing Mpox clade, then why are they not recommending the immediate closure of international borders to contain its spread?

Because that would be the smart thing to do. However, it looks like it might be too late now.

But, as we know... our governments are NOT smart. Especially when their 'strings are being pulled' by big business (as we eventually saw with Covid).

From June:

Quote:
Apparently the @WHO
monitors rumours and misinformation on mpox. A key finding: “there have been discussions around transmission reiterating (…) the rumour that "monkeypox is airborne"”

Also @WHO
: “Examples of pathogens that spread via airborne transmission: monkeypox virus”🤔

Honestly, what is the point of this World "Health" Organization?

They failed us with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
They're failing us with "bird" flu.
And now they're about to fail us again with "monkeypox".

Incompetent? Corrupt? Both? I'm guessing both at this stage.

Yes, Bobby. Of course.

I was wondering if it would be you, Frank, Gordon or Sir Nail to be the first to post something like that.

Congratulations. You win.

However...

Why the latest mpox outbreak has global health authorities so alarmed

World health authorities are increasingly alarmed by the latest mpox outbreak, driven by a more lethal and infectious variant than the strain behind the 2022 outbreak – with this new version predominantly affecting children.

16/08/2024

Quote:
The 2022 outbreak was triggered by clade II, one of two types of mpox, which is milder and less transmissible than clade Ib, which is behind the most recent outbreak and can kill up to ten percent of people infected.

Most cases in the 2022 outbreak were in gay or bisexual men, and containment efforts focused on changing the behavior of men having sex with men after it was established that the virus was spread through sexual contact.

The most recent outbreak has been affecting predominantly children.

Quote:
The charity Save the Children is reporting that newborn babies are getting infected in overcrowded hospitals in the DRC, and doctors have reported high rates of miscarriage among pregnant women.

In calling the outbreak a PHEIC, the WHO is opening up funding and research into the clade Ib variant to better understand how it is transmitted and how to contain it.

Authorities are concerned about the spread of the disease in areas around Goma, in the northeast of the DRC, which has reported the vast majority of cases, and which is already facing a humanitarian crisis, with millions of people displaced and moving around from camp to camp.

Goma’s international airport has allowed the virus to spread abroad.

It's always a lot of fun for some people to make jokes about homosexuals and masks on @sses while children are dying, isn't it?

Good advice bobby.

Q.
Will the Australian government 'mandate' a Monkeypox vaccine for all Australians, as soon as one becomes available ?

I think i'm going to opt out.

Since 2020, i don't trust government 'Health Departments' anymore.

And I'm here to help.'

Oh, it looks like I forgot to include Yadda in my last post.  Roll Eyes

Honestly, some of you people remind me of Mayor Vaughn in Jaws.

Quote:
Mayor Vaughn: Martin, it's all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July.

Quote:
Mayor Vaughn: I don't think either of one you are familiar with our problems.

Hooper: I think that I am familiar with the fact that you are going to ignore this particular problem until it swims up and BITES YOU ON THE ASS!

Indeed they will (and that includes our governments).

"Bernard was right, the germ is nothing--the milieu is everything."

- Louis Pasteur - on his deathbed

[milieu = = environment]

Quote:

With the addition of the single word "susceptible" the entire concept of the germ theory is changed. The accent is taken away from the germ and placed on the word susceptibility, not only susceptibility of the second host but also that of the first host-in other words,
for a germ to cause a disease in anybody, at any time, it can only do so if the person is susceptible.
Thus Koch agreed with his friend Pasteur who, before he died, admitted that "Bernard was right, the germ is nothing, the milieu is everything. "

So having come to agreement that germs and viruses pose a threat only to susceptible subjects, it remains only to clarify what susceptible means. Susceptibility is a condition of lowered health and vitality which exists when the homeostasis of the body becomes disharmonised due to undesirable changes in the milieu interieur . As the milieu interieur changes rapidly for better or worse according to what is eaten and many other factors, so susceptibility may vary or be chronic, which explains why some sick people go 'in and out of remission' and why some remain chronic.

It is an opinion.

Stay curious.

It is as simple as 2 + 2 = 4

If you frequently swim in a sewer,       ...you should expect commensurate consequences.

Duh !!

Anyway... back to the topic at hand.

https://x.com/RealCheckMarker/status/1824409051364475153

Quote:
Why is China screening for mPox at international airports?
Because when @WHO
declared mPox a PHEIC that's how nations are supposed to act according to IHR (2005).
The real question you want to ask is - why isn't your nation announcing screening for mPox?!?

So, when is the Australian Government going to make an announcement about screening for mPox at airports?

I won't be holding my breath.

https://x.com/RealCheckMarker/status/1824412983839101316

Quote:
Your nation has a legal obligation under their agreement to the IHR (2005) to temporarily inconvenience a few international travellers for the health and safety of the many millions in your nation.
The needs of the many, outweigh the few!

Yes, but I'm sure governments (including our own) can safely ignore this like they do with other International Agreements and Covenants because apparently there's no repercussions or penalties for doing so.

It might also be a good idea if the usual suspects stop with the jokes and memes about monkeypox and homosexual men, masks on @sses, that sort of thing.

Because, if it turns out this mPox clade is airborne it would probably be a bit embarrassing for our usual suspects if they get infected (possibly in one of those shopping centre food courts with maskless coughing and sneezing people) and find themselves covered with pus filled blisters - especially on the face.

You never know what people may think if they see that, eh?

And...

The 'don't panic' first messaging for epidemics and pandemics is now our entire public health strategy.

If this does spread widely, it'll be interesting to see how anti-vaxxers go. Difficult to pretend you have 'natural immunity' when covered in pustules.

Yes, it would be extremely interesting to see how our resident anti-vaxxers go if that happens.

They’ll try and push “gay men only affected” until women and children start looking like the elephant man and then it will be 😳

Yes, we've already seen that 'push' here.

The mpox clade (strain) in the latest outbreak is 10 times more fatal and children and those who are immunocompromised are most at risk. C19 has made millions immunocompromised. Are we going to do something? Or will western public health sit on its hands?

I think the CØVlD playbook might be fraying at the edges.

« Mpox, it’s just the flu » might be a rather difficult sell.

Oh, yes... but I have no doubt whatsoever about them trying to sell it as "just the flu" for as long as they think they can get away with it.
