It might also be a good idea if the usual suspects stop with the jokes and memes about monkeypox and homosexual men, masks on @sses, that sort of thing.

Because, if it turns out this mPox clade is airborne it would probably be a bit embarrassing for our usual suspects if they get infected (possibly in one of those shopping centre food courts with maskless coughing and sneezing people) and find themselves covered with pus filled blisters - especially on the face.

You never know what people may think if they see that, eh?

Yes, Bobby.

Just like SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) only spreads through droplets that travel no further than 1.5 meters, eh?

That one aged well, didn't it?

While I'm here - some more 'food for thought':

Gonna say the same things about mpox as last time:

* Precautionary principle, not assuming the best case.
* Don't dismiss multiple modes of transmission (including airborne).
* Protect healthcare workers.
* Consider the risk of outbreaks in schools.
* Don't platform minimizers.

Will our governments and big business do any of those? Nah, of course not.

Won't be too long before we're hearing "No one could have foreseen this". Again.  Roll Eyes

Oh, you're back.

I thought you might have taken a few days off to pause and reflect on the nonsense you post here daily and change your ways.

Silly me, I should have known better.

Must be an age thing (which will probably get worse when I'm 'officially' an Age Pensioner in a few months time).

OK, now that the children have finished playing and gone home (for now) it's time to continue with more serious matters:

Back to Bobby's earlier post again:

No doubt. But, isn't it strange that the UK Government says it's also airborne?

High consequence infectious diseases (HCID) - GOV.UK.

Published 22 October 2018
Last updated 25 January 2023

Scroll down to "List of high consequence infectious diseases"

See it? Under "Airborne HCIDs"

Mpox (monkeypox) (Clade I only)**

Clade I is the one currently circulating around the world. Clade II was the one from 2 years ago which was a lot "milder" and (allegedly) mainly infected homosexuals.

Here -  let Tim the ex virologist explain how dangerous that is. (CFR is Case Fatality Rate by the way, i.e. a 10% death rate).

(And, yes... I'm sure most people don't care at this stage. Until they get infected, of course. Perhaps not even then).

You might want to think about wearing that mask (in your meme) around the front and a bit higher, Bobby.  Smiley

Edit: I knew I'd seen that UK Government link before. I posted it in this thread over 2 years ago.

Victoria Health said last month: “Since May 2022, there has been a large international outbreak of monkeypox that is predominantly impacting gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men.”

Earlier this year Victorin authorities warned gay men to get vaccinated ahead of super-spreading “pride” events such as Melbourne’s Midsumma festival. The vaccine is provided free to homosexuals and prostitutes.

Looks like Frank hasn't been paying attention. Again.
Or he's just trolling.

So... once more... for those at the back of the class (I used some highlighting this time if it makes it easier):

While I'm here - why doesn't this surprise me?

Australia is one of few nations in the pacific region that has yet to implement mPox screening at international airports, but there is progress being made towards Public Health initiatives of mPox screening.

Probably too late anyway seeing as it's already here.

I'm betting our pollies, the media and big business leaders are sh!tting themselves right now trying to work out how to make the majority of the population believe mpox is "mild" or it's "just like any other respiratory illness" (like they've done with Covid).

As someone said on X the other day - that's going to be a 'hard sell' once we start seeing people walking around with their faces covered in pustules and a 10% fatality rate.

Also:

Quote:
As of this post Australia is completely unprepared for #Mpox 1b.
✴️Zero guidance or protocols on 1b at the clinician or public level.
✴️Zero #immunisations to those at risk of 1b (Jynneos vaccine only available to those that work in the sex industry and those that are gay- clade 2b was an STD)
✴️Zero discussion at the hospital level about local plans.
✴️Zero PPE checks.
✴️Zero statements from our medical governance . Where is our minister of health @RyanPark_Keira
?🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
✴️Zero movement re getting any #vaccines authorised for use in children (anywhere in the world).
✴️Zero border controls.

This is such a predictable #medical and #economic crisis.
It is a slow motion train wreck. Why is no one with authority talking about this?

We can only hope that we can ‘ring vaccinate’ travellers and contacts, and stop local spread (like 2022).

But the risk only disappears if we eradicate #Mpox from Africa also.
Otherwise we need to vaccinate all kids.

But, never mind...
