The US has become a fragmented society. Diversity, far from being its strength, has brought about fragmentation, fear, distrust, loss of common ground where dialogue and solidarity used to live. Hence the huge increase in gun ownership and resistance to government control since the governments are not trusted and not seen as by the people, of the people, for the people, especially large cities.

There is not "one people, the American people" who could come together to solve their problems on the basis of some shared fundamental values. They have diluted such shared values for "diversity is our strength" to the point where they are tribalised and fragmented and are mutually incomprehensible to each other, politically, culturally.

better said then i could say it, frank and this is the root of the problem.

without fixing the problem at its root cause, there will be no progress.

No, Aquascoot, I'm afraid you're mistaken. There are good and bad people on both sides, no?

Of a neo-Nazi rally.

Mr Trump's right. I think we should agree to accept our differences and move on, yes?

Exactly. They're bad - or good. I forget which.

Either way, the last man standing wins, yes?

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, Sprint.

Or do. Both sides, no?

'More guns' is evidently not working.
Any other suggestions?

Manufacture and import less guns, and make them harder to access for civilians.

Incorrect.

Manufacture and import more. If the leftards don't like it, they can move to New Zealand.

The Americans who want gun control can move to Mexico where gun laws are very strict.

Good idea, Barron. They may well be safer in Mexico.

How many mass shooters shoot up primary schools there, dear?

The Australian definition for mass shootings is 5 or more killed not including the offender, how many of the shootings from GVA would be called a mass shooting in Australia?

From your link-
Quote:
Rather than just collecting incidents of death, GVA also catalogs incidents where a victim was injured by shooting or by a victim who was the subject of an armed robber or home invader. Incidents of defensive gun use, home owners who stop a home invasion, store clerks who stop a robbery, individuals who stop an assault or rape with a gun are also collected.
https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/methodology

If you're happy to use GVA for mass shootings then the Monash University shooting becomes a mass shooting when everyone denies it was a mass shooting when praising our gun laws.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monash_University_shooting

We had no school shooting deaths before our 1996 gun laws and 3 school shooting deaths after 1996 gun laws.

If you want a more credible source for mass shootings in the US here is one.

it wasnt back in the 50's
when people bounced out of bed and went to work making fords or chevvys or levis
when people rallied round the flag and were patriotic
when they were in an upward spiral.

then they got soft
they got obese and addicted to low vibration foods
they got entitled
they wanted china to make their shoes and clothes
they bounced out of bed with one aim
to do as little as possible, see work as a punishment and "pleasure themselves"
this led to self loathing
they were ripe for the woke nonsense which the weak soft man vibes with
their mental health deteriorated
they got addicted to oxy and died in record number
they didnt want to even buy the nikes anymore
they thought they had the right to loot stores during riots and just take them
the woke rulers said that was ok.

when you go the easy route, the soft route, the entitled route, mother nature tells you you have messed up
once you wont apply the blowtorch to yourself , mother nature will find a way to take you out because mother nature is disgusted by "the life of pure garbage"

be it covid or tribalism or identity politics or china , something will get you

there is no place for people who dont bounce out of bed without a noble ambition and you will be demolished unless you can remain on the "narrow road to success"

Oh, yes they are.

You can't die from a gunshot wound if there's no gun.

As long as you take every last one, including all government issued weapons then you shouldn't have a problem.
While there is still "one" gun in the world then something will be shot by it.

I'd suggest you learn to live with it.
If you feel so heartbroken for the US, piss off over there and sort it out.  Roll Eyes

That is totally idiotic, mindless, unthinking garbage - typical from you.

If it was as you say then gun crime in every other country would be exactly proportionate to the number of guns in each country.
This is glaringly obviously not the case.
So there has to be something else aside guns and that is culture, social cohesion and politics at every level.

Guns are the root of the problem.

There's always other factors involved, but guns are the root of the problem.

Nineteen children can't die from gunshot wounds if the bad guy doesn't have a gun.

“In the wake of John Howard’s gun reforms, the risk of an Australian dying by gunshot quickly fell by more than half – and it’s stayed that low for 25 years.

“In those same years, there’s also been a significant shift in the country’s gun culture.”

In new figures published yesterday by the university-hosted project GunPolicy.org, Associate Professor Alpers reported: “The proportion of Australians who hold a gun licence has fallen by 48 percent, as each year a smaller segment of the population decide they need a firearm.”

In 1997, the year after the Port Arthur massacre, Australia had 6.52 licensed firearm owners per 100 population. By 2020, that proportion had almost halved, to 3.41 licensed gun owners for every 100 people.

“Although several states and territories still refuse to release their firearm licensing data, we know that today about 868,000 Australians have a current gun licence,” says Associate Professor Alpers.

In 1997, the federal firearm buyback campaign reported that 1.2 million Australians were licensed to possess firearms.
