The Glitch

The Glitch was introduced as a means of controlling manic posters, who are generally typified by a ranting, abusive, insulting and totally unsupported style of rhetoric, which is clearly designed to upset and bully other users of websites. When it became apparent to the oversight body - The Global Internet Manic Poster Society (commonly known as GIMPS) that certain users were cyber-bullying others by typing like the wind and attempting to swamp discussion, then resorting to abuse and belittlement over the relative speed of typing, it was felt the time had come for action.

In 2021 GIMPS created and installed into the software of all modern discussion sites a filter that identified ranting, raving, bullying posters - and in order to slow down the speed of their cyber-attacks - inserted the Glitch.

The added advantage of this was that other forms of cyber-attack could also be slowed down, and security services throughout the West lined up to buy The Glitch and install it as just another device in their war against cyber crime of all kinds.

Though it can be annoying at time - the Glitch is here to stay!
