Geoff, you do not merely "identify" as a male, you are a male. And it wasn't 'assigned" to you at birth randomly, arbitrarily. You are male or female from the moment of conception, depending on whether the fertilising sperm carried an x or y chromosome since all eggs are x only. Your maleness in every single cell of your body, including your nerve cells (so there is no 'neurological' gap or opening for you to be female.)

What is in your imagination is another matter. As your imagination is not biological, you can imagine all sorts of things. Kids dress up as all sorts of heroes, animals, imagine themselves all sorts of things. But just as you cant simply wish yourself into being a unicorn or a red Indianor a 7 foot black basketballer, you can't become a girl by dreasing as one and imitating girlie speech and behaviour.

Being a woman or a man is not just a veneer to be method acted, imitated, mimicked. Yes, you can mimick it but, obviously, that is not BEING one, that's only playing at it, no matter how fervently you wish to BE it.

You can indulge kiddies and address them as Spiderman and play along. You can also indulge a grown man dressed as a woman and address him as Miss Daisy. But you are just playing along, the kid is not Superman an the bloke is still a bloke.

The whole 'gender' inventory is an attempt to play along as if one was not playing along but was really believing in the transformative power of imaging oneself to be a Miss Daisy or anything else - that's why the LGBT alphabet is open- ended to infinity. It's theatre, often of the theatre of the absurd, treated as the reality and in this theatre actual, the real is merely theatre, arbitrarily assigned and randomly made up. If it's all made up, why are some people sure they are trans? Why can't we talk them out of it? Why can science explain how this happens? Why do they tell us they were born that way?
