BTW you haven't defined natural. You've said six is half a dozen.

WTF? Now you're just getting desperate

No. It's an ancient objection to someone pretending to define something but failing.

Like: natural is anything that manifests from nature.

But in a broad context, everything manifests from nature where nature is a synonym for cosmos or the universe of all things.

What people usually mean when they use the term 'natural' is 'moral'. Once they've got away with that, they can then turn an ought into an is, as they say.

Failing to define? The dictionary must likewise be failing.

Quite possibly your most stupid comment to date.

When people say stepladder, they really mean banana.

Discuss.

You used it all over the place and not in ways that referred to 'arising from nature' but from the perspective of morality.

Yet i used almost an identical definition to the one John posted from the dictionary.

And morality never came into it. Morality is a construct.

I reiterate, my definition is correct and descriptive. It simply doesn't suit your agenda.

Remember this? Not so much shitting on the lawn as smearing it all over yourself.

Quote:
Shitting on your neighbour's front lawn is not natural, but it is a natural act. It is strictly frowned upon by society, for very good reason.

Morality whore, much?

What is it you're not understanding, Ecky? The fact that the word "act" is not redundant?

You used it twice in different contexts.

Once in the context of morality.

Nope. In the context of lawns.

This was explained to you some pages back.

Remember? You started going on about "flat surfaces" to deflect. Spot of goalpost shifting.

I'm not ignoring the dictionary definition. Dictionary definitions are necessarily brief. Natural, as in arising from nature, includes everything if natural is used in the context of cosmos. The dictionary definition does not rule that out. That's why the concept of supernatural exists - arising from beyond the natural universe.

I know when people say something like 'shitting on the neighbour's lawn is not natural', the speaker is likely saying that 'shitting on the neighbour's lawn is not moral'.

When the speaker is actually saying lawns are natural.

No. Not in the context of lawn, except to say that lawns weren't natural. That wasn't you, but. You went straight for morality.
