History Brian - live in the here and now.

Existentialism only works for the narrow minded, Graps.  I have worked with men who focus on the here and now at the exclusion of the past.   They were broken men who wanted to forget what had happened to them in the past.  Indigenous Australians had their children stolen away, with regard as to their feelings, their emotions.  They were treated as children by unfeeling white people who believed because of the colour of their skin they had fewer feelings, that they didn't love their children.  Today we have you wanting to repeat the same mistakes of the past, with the same excuses.  Is it any wonder that people Indigenous and your fellow whites think you are being Racist?  I know you are doing it to stir people, to make them to think, but you are the one who is not thinking about what you are saying.  Time for Indigenous Australians to be counted as Australians, not as some sort of alien group in our society.  Time their feelings were counted, time for them to be taken into account.  Time for you to man up and admit you were wrong.  Time to admit that you were mistaken.   The here and now is built on the past and it is the past that I am asking you to take into account in your feelings.  Can that be possible or are you going, once more, to stick with "here and now" excuse, mate?  Are you going to look like a bigger Racist?   Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You will find that children - Aboriginal or otherwise - are removed from broken families, Bbwian, where the father is long gone.

NO child has been ever removed from intact, functioning families with both parents present and bringing up the kiddies responsibly, not from Aboriginal families, not from mixed or any other.

We have only your judgement of what makes an "intact, functioning family," Soren.  I have known many single mothers over the years who function quite well, without a man in their relationship.  You are a traditionalist, we understand that but you really do need to step outside and talk to ordinary Australian people.  Otherwise you remain isolated from daily life.  Indigenous people are function and they often have no man either in their families.  They need support, not condemnation.  They need sometimes help but they most need is non-interference from busy body authorities who believe, like you, they know best.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You have NFI

I saw this

When working as a solicitor with non-Indigenous clients, I encountered infanticide, homicide, suicide, betrayals, violence, incest and other child abuse. These were tragic cases but in none was the violence equivalent to the horrific circumstances of Aboriginal violence…

Have a read

J Kimm, A Fatal Conjunction:  Two Laws Two Cultures

In Numbulwar, NT,  a man severed a limb off his sister while he was drunk. He went at her with an axe as well as a spear.”

Joan Kimm: p11

Recent child-abuse cases, from Central Australia and Queensland, included a seven-month baby taken out of her home and raped, and who needed surgery under general anaesthetic. A two-year-old girl left unattended while her mother drank, was sexually assaulted by a man and also needed surgery. A three-year-old was sexually assaulted by three men, and ten days later another man raped her twice, once using a mangrove stick

A six-year-old girl was followed to a waterhole and while playing there was anally raped while being drowned. A 10-year-old girl was tied to a tree and repeatedly raped. One health worker examined a 14-year-old girl ‘so raw from being raped – she had been abused since the age of three – that she screamed throughout her examination.’

Why is child murder or rape worse when Aboriginals do it?

Why do Aboriginal women in Australia experience such high levels of violence in their own communities? In this considered and carefully researched book, Joan Kimm discusses the extent and nature of the violence, its underlying causes, current policies that deal with it, and changes that might improve these policies. Kimm shows how this multi-faceted environment, particularly theinteraction of two patriarchal laws, has had, and continues to have, very real destructive effects on Aboriginal women. Kimm argues powerfully that Aboriginal women, like all women, like allhumans, have the universal right to lives free of violence. Shecontends that current law, policy and practice place too much emphasison their rights as Indigenous people and too little on their rights aswomen. A shift in emphasis will be an important first step to saferlives. Her work covers: the devastating legacy of European colonialism on Indigenous culture, modern anthropological evidence about patriarchy and violence in traditional Aboriginal societies, beliefs held by Aboriginals, particularly men, about their cultural heritage, the impact of cultural heritage upon modern Indigenous society, and changing judicial attitudes to sentencing Aboriginal men for violence to Aboriginal women, shifting from emphasis on the mens cultural background to emphasis on the womens rights as victims.

I am confused, Matty. Here we are again with you claiming that you worked as a solicitor when previously you claimed you worked as an ambo.  Which were you, really?  A troll hiding in your mum's basement?  Come on now, get your story straight for the public!  Look we are all friends here, we know you prefer the basement to daylight, we won't hold it against you if you come clean.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Stolen Gen?

The six-year-old was taken by paramedics to the Lyell McEwin Hospital during the early hours of Friday morning after being found unresponsive at her Munno Para home. She died soon after arrival.

Her five siblings, aged between seven and 16 years, have been removed from the home.

Every time I go to comment on that story, Gordon, I just can't.  We live in a mad, mad, mad, mad world where people attack those who bring such stories to light...... madness... sheer madness...

Not from EVERY broken family, but ONLY from broken families.  I know you are far from the full quid, Bbwian, but this is not a hard distinction to grasp even for someone as diminished as you.

Suburban single mothers with a family network are NOT remote Aboriginal abandoned and ostracised mothers whose children do not fit into the kinship network on account of the absent non-kosher father.

And where they are neglected, often ill-treated by 'clan members visiting' - suffer often from the 'new lion in the pride' thing where the bloke passing through the mother does things to the kids.... or are blatantly abused sexually or otherwise.

It's not a matter of kids being removed from functioning single parent families at all - and again - the process is exhaustive before that point is reached.

Really, Soren?  You're now a specialist in Indigenous family groups and kinship are you?  Indigenous kinship goes far deeper than you can understand.  It governs how they relate to one another, it determines who can associate with whom and under what circumstances.  I am not a expert but even I understand more about it than you do.  Indigenous families are far more complex than your simple, European conditioned mind can grasp.  They are not just about a nuclear family or even an extended family, they encompass clan groups and tribal associations.  I really recommend you give up your childish philosophising when you can before you are displayed for the idiot that you are.  Go back to being a trick-cyclist, it's what you claim to be good at.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Graps, I have been kind to you.  You have demonstrated that you are a fool and a Racist.  You were given more than a chance to show that you were mistaken in your views.  Badly mistaken.  You however have refused to redeem your ways and kept on with the same old Racist ways and views.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
