nothing to do with equality
Different capabilities have nothing to do with equality?
Jesus, lad/lass - how old are you? Legal equality has nothing to do with fundamental abilities..... someone may make a killing out of music - others not - that's just the way it goes, but they still have the same fundamental legal rights.. Mozart cannot commit murder with impunity any more than a street corner one man band can.
Note: capabilities come to the fore in a competition, specifically, in the neoliberal market economy in which prices are determined by 'market value'.
You said it yourself - that's market value' - not capabilities of individuals. Legally everyone has the same right to compete for those goods - some may have more available to achieve - but the RIGHT remains the same.
Quote:("inalienable rights" are alienated) sometimes by governing bodies, sometimes individuals - those are the exceptions and not the rules
And why does this occur? Answer: self-interest of powerful individuals, or faulty reasoning (as in neoliberal NAIRU economic orthodoxy).
A mix of both -and as in neo-communist non-reasoning/and in the social sense Neo-Stalinism - so what is the 'self-interest of powerful individuals' that keeps Abos down as you claim? Where is the wrongful thinking that does the same? Lay it out for us..... then see the different views.
Quote:pure paranoia - these are often unintended consequences, but no less real for that, and you will never get rid of those - people don't really think they are robbing others to get their way - they think they are offering them opportunities.... discuss the nuts and bolts - not your idea of what motivates people - often that is simple stupidity....
Well the "nuts and bolts" of eliminating the gap, as both Pearson and Mundine recognize, is
fixing the economy.
What ARE you going on about? Universal above poverty employment is the beginning of functioning individuals and communities.
Quote:try something else - nobody will come at people being paid a wage to laze around... go and tell the Abos out there they must work every day etc... persuade them and get back to me
Educate yourself; that's not what a JG is about; and abos voluntarily participated in the CDEP before it was dismantled by IPA 'small government'/free market ideologues.
Quote:Now about that voice before I bring in the glitch... if you wish to discuss your ideas and ideology and philosophy- do it in the appropriate place... not in strands about the voice etc. I know your plan is to clog these discussions up and frustrate discussion of the real issues - don't make me stop you like Lefty ....
So don't want to look at Mundine's - and Pearson's - proposals to "fix the economy"? ...very much part of the voice debate.
Subject compartmentalism gone mad, to avoid discovering that closing the gap might mean violating some of your cherished ideological stances re "free choice" .
[/quote]
That will not eliminate any gap unless the Abos themselves actively co-operate in doing so. My Abo hairdresser, for example, is doing fine... his father owns a small farm and often comes in to sell produce... he was a hairdresser before his son and told people he was Italian or Greek so as to pass... they both prosper by........ working.... no gap there....
Now then - in those remote areas where work is scarce (where you've never once set foot so you know nothing) how do you propose to stamp jobs out of the ground? Corollary question - what makes you imagine that Abos are the only ones out there in that situation? Have you ever met anyone from a poor family that lives out West of The Great Divide? Maybe you think they're all rich farmers and such - but where do you imagine their part-time casual labour comes from at harvesting time etc? many local survive on that... and their children head to the cities where once jobs could be had........
Then we heard the thunder..... the thunder of 'free trade agreements' that are nothing of the sort; of 'creating a Utopia here by divesting ourselves of polluting industries and the hard work involved"; of adherence to the myths of the global economy and of private industry being more efficient (LMFAO); and all the other policies and politics of division and exclusion that arose like spreading cancers on the backs of those... your feminism, your gayism, your trannyiism(s), your ethnicisms, your classism, your elitism.... all of which have created divides in this country and certainly have created more gaps than they ever closed.
Clearly you have no grip on the realities of what creates 'gaps', but are ideologically driven to suppose that only Blacks suffer gaps...as the ideology demands of you.
