Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

A genuinely nice bloke, and a talent silenced too early.  RIP.

Only thing is it wasn't just the little Aboriginal children that got taken away.

Wonderful human being.
Awesome life story.
He will continue to live in our memory through his music.

"Roach's wife and musical partner, Ruby Hunter, died on 17 February 2010 aged 54. On 14 October 2010, Roach suffered a stroke while working in the Kimberley region. After recuperating, he returned to live performance in April 2011. He also survived lung cancer, due to early diagnosis in 2011 and major surgery. He was regarded as a senior elder of his peoples.

Roach died on 30 July 2022 at Warrnambool Base Hospital after a long illness. His sons, Amos and Eban, have given permission for his name and image to continue to be used "so that his legacy will continue to inspire". Tributes were paid to his memory by prominent names in arts, politics and sport including Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese, Victorian premier Daniel Andrews, and musicians including Emma Donovan, Briggs, John Schumann, Alice Skye, Emily Wurramara, Paul Kelly, Billy Bragg, Mark Seymour, Midnight Oil and Shane Howard."

Conversations, 2019.

Widely admired for his powerful lyrics and the grace of his pin-drop performances, Archie has overcome blow after blow throughout his life.  He was just two years old when he was taken from his Aboriginal mother and given to the Cox family to raise.  His foster family brought him up with love, in a house filled with music. But when he discovered the truth about his birth family, Archie's world shattered.
