Frank's answer was spot on!

He answered Methra correctly :

Quote:
You are not posing the same question.

If 23,858 people move into a city yet 31,726 leave, by how many  people is that city down on overall?

Is not the same as Victoria went from +23 858 to -31 726.

The answer to the first question is 7868, to the second it is 55584.

Frank exposed Methra for not asking the right question/changing the original question WHEN she started this topic in order to deflect attention from the other topic where MY question was being discussed. Frank then proceeded to show Methra that her question was not only incorrect ... it was irrelevant to the discussion irrespective of the answer.

So that makes Frank correct and Methra a moron.✅

I sent the same PM to a few posters and all came back with Frank's reply. So I had a few laughs behind the scenes.

So you didn't post it here for all others to consider the answer to another question.

So Frank's answer to the question posted in the OP to this thread was correct.

No I chose to challenge the slithering snake (who started this topic as a deflection from the original topic which contained the topic and discussion) on why she was asking such an irrelevant question instead. I'm glad I did that too.

Frank's response was able to show that my original question was different and Methra did not understand that. ✅

The only question, ever, was how many people have moved out of Victoria since 2018 ie:

23,858 people move into a city yet 31,726 leave, by how many  people is that city down on overall?

Or if you like:

+23858  -  -31726

The ONLY answer is 7868.

The ONLY question that arrives at the answer 55,584 is:

31, 726 + 23. 858

Which of course tells us nothing.

Larry argues this for pages, against several different posters. And they're still arguing it in this thread.

Seriously, what an idiot.

What question? What is  31, 726 + 23. 858?

What does that tell us about how many people moved out of Victoria, Larry?

I agree that the net gain or net loss, calculated via the numbers of residents' arriving /  leaving, is a more meaningful result to most than absolute total ingress / egress from a city.

Too bad! Unfortunately for you...the original topic/discussion revolved around this FACT :

https://www.realestate.com.au/insights/victoria-is-the-biggest-population-loser-...

Over the 12 months to June,   79,907 persons have migrated away from Victoria – more than any other state or territory.

This is putting is obviously differently to how it was on that other thread where this was the illustration:

...

This obviously means that the loss of 31k was NOT from the peak of the plus 23K but from the pre-peak baseline. According to the illustration the loss - from the peak - is 53K. The way you formulated it here and in the OP is quite different, with the loss from the peak 23k, not from the baseline, so then the answer is 7k.

Frank...

Look at the difference btwn these 2 periods of time for NSW. Would you regard this 10K difference as a SHOCK to the NSW's population PRE Covid vs POST Covid?

Now look at wtf happened to Victoria over the same period of time ie pre Covid vs Post Covid :

This difference IS a SHOCK for Victoria which is also a smaller economy compared to NSW. It's also why Domain and realestate.com web sites are stating this :

Oh so you've changed your view now 😂🤣😆

See what a bit of CONTEXT can do lol? Never EVER believe ANYTHING a self confessed drug addict who spent years living on the streets like Methra ever posts online. She's a slithery uninformed snake with absolutely no idea about how to read and comprehend English let alone Maths and who carefully leaves out anything that might expose her as a fraud. Ok off to Facebook now 😎
