Trump is entitled to those records, it was nothing compared to the millions of pages Obama took. That is what they all do, it isn't a crime. The President can declassify any secret document he chooses and none of what was seized was currently classified!

Really? Show me the basis for that claim. I'll give you a hint...SCOTUS Navy v Egan, but it is not on point. Also think Obama EO, but it does not help either.

Even if they were declassified, it doesn't matter: Trump still broke the law.

The above is correct, It does not matter if they are declassified or not and the procedures required were not followed. It is in fact a lie nobody had ever heard of this before the excuse lie came out.

But as well as this the President does not hold the right to declassify all documents so no he cannot declassify any document that he chooses. There are many documents that he can use the correct procedure to declassify however being declassified does not make it legal to then steal the document.

The documents still belong to the government and are kept in the archive if related to Trumps presidency and in other secure locations if not.
