About friggin' time

It's not fair.

Quote:
According to a new book, “Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America’s Mayor,” by journalist Andrew Kirtzman, Giuliani’s associate, Maria Ryan wrote: “As you know, he lost his job and income and more defending you during the Russia hoax investigation and then the impeachment pro bono.” Ryan requested $2.5 million for Giuliani’s legal services and expenses and $45,000 for her own services, “working in the campaign pursuing truth and justice for the president,” according to the book.

The letter continued, asking for a Presidential Medal of Freedom: “Mr. Giuliani rarely asks for anything for himself. He is praying you present him with this on Friday, January 15 or Monday the 19.”

Two and a half mil, a medal and a pardon. Oh, and $45,000 for his friend who sent the letter.

Not bad for a few press conferences, one held at the luxurious Four Seasons.

The big fella told him to go jump. The deal's off, he said.

Mr Trump could at least have given him the pardon, no? Oh, well. looks like it's five to ten in Terra Haute. What can you do?

Rudy can make friends with a cartel boss. Those guys do pretty easy time.

It'll cost though.

"While the Trump of the ’80s would’ve been able to round up a legal team despite his reputation for being an asshole, it seems that is no longer the case."

REPORT: NO RESPECTABLE LAWYER WILLING TO TOUCH TRUMP WITH 10-FOOT POLE AFTER MAR-A-LAGO RAID

"As you’ve probably heard by now, Donald Trump is in a whole bunch of legal trouble. While said trouble includes numerous criminal investigations and civil lawsuits, probably the most pressing issue at the moment involves his decision to take classified documents from the U.S. government, which resulted in the FBI raiding Mar-a-Lago last week, a search they got permission to perform by convincing a federal judge they had probable cause to believe the ex-president had violated the Espionage Act, among other things. Since all of this could conceivably culminate in Trump going to prison, he obviously needs legal representation. But unfortunately for the former guy, no respectable lawyer wants to touch him with a 1,000-foot pole. No, really: It’s like he has monkeypox, early-era COVID, and the plague all in one."

Oh? Why not?

That's the problem with these lawyers. So ungrateful.

Exactly. How ungrateful of them to not want to destroy their reputation whilst having their client refuse to pay for their services. Don't they know how lucky they are to even get the chance to represent him.

I think they do, JS. There's nothing better than standing in front of the lights, the hair dye running down your cheeks, speaking to the world.

You know your brief. Witch hunt! Fake News! So unfair!

You give it to the fakers like a ringmaster. And all around, the city burns. The mob bark on like dogs, but you hold them in the palm of your hand. This is your town. You own the room. For a few minutes, you may even own the nation. The words fire out like bullets, hitting their mark.

RINOs! Soros! Deep state! For a minute, you forget the erectile dysfunction and the bladder control issue. Your focus is dead-on, your attention becomes one, you feel the energy rising up your spine and out into the world. A moment, endless in time.

Men kill and die for such experiences, JS. Rudy is no different. Sure, he may die in Terra Haute, Indiana, but it will be worth it all for one minute of glory, one second.

Like the male spider who enters the female's web to breed, he knows she will consume him when they're done. But he does it anyway. We must all do our duty.

Rigged!

Clinton Bush and Obama have all taken classified documents home and nobody said anything perhaps that's why those 3 are silent on this issue.

The POTUS has the power to declassify documents some of the lame arguments coming out is the declassification process hadn't been done which isn't Trumps fault. Trump says declassify this hands it to a lackey and they do it.

Interesting interview on this here- https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1561661066018430976?cxt=HHwWgICxueWdkawr...

Are you just a compulsive liar, Baron?

No, Obama did not keep 33 million pages of his administration’s records

The National Archives debunked former President Trump’s claim that former President Obama kept more than 30 million pages of documents, “much of them classified."

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) debunked Trump’s claims in a statement on Aug. 12, writing that it “assumed exclusive legal and physical custody” of Obama’s presidential records when he left office in 2017, in accordance with the Presidential Records Act (PRA).

Have you sought professional help for your illness, Baron?

It is tragic, yes.

He's destroyed his life all for Trump.

And once he's in prison, Trump won't give him a second thought (he doesn't give him a second thought now even).

A silly, silly man.

But, he committed some pretty bad crimes which led to innocent people dying so I don't have a lot of sympathy for him.

He knew he was lying and he knew what he was doing was wrong.

US National Archives says 700 pages of classified records were seized at Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago residence

The US National Archives recovered more than 100 documents bearing classified markings, totalling more than 700 pages, from an initial batch of boxes retrieved from Mar-a-Lago this year, according to newly public government correspondence with former president Donald Trump's legal team.

The large quantity of classified material in 15 boxes recovered in January by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), some marked "top secret", provides more insight into what led to the FBI's court-authorised August 8 search of Mr Trump's residence in Palm Beach.

The May 10 letter was sent by acting US Archivist Debra Steidel Wall to Trump attorney Evan Corcoran.

"Among the materials in the boxes are over 100 documents with classification markings, comprising more than 700 pages," Ms Wall's letter said.

"Some include the highest levels of classification, including Special Access Program (SAP) materials," Ms Wall's letter said, referring to security protocols reserved for some of the country's most closely held secrets.

The letter, which was released late on Monday (local time) by John Solomon, a conservative journalist who Mr Trump authorised in June to access his presidential records, contains additional information about Mr Trump's handling of classified materials and his efforts to delay federal officials from reviewing the documents.

The letter shows that Mr Trump's legal team repeatedly tried to stall the Archives from letting the FBI and intelligence officials review the materials, saying he needed more time to determine if any of the records were covered by a doctrine called executive privilege that enabled a president to shield some records.

President Joe Biden's administration — specifically the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel — has determined that the materials were not covered by executive privilege.

It found "there is no precedent" for a former president to shield records from a sitting president using executive privilege when the materials in question legally belong to the federal government, according to the letter.

Even after Mr Trump returned the 15 boxes to the Archives, the Justice Department still suspected he had more classified material.

The August 8 search was part of a federal investigation into whether Mr Trump illegally removed documents from the White House when he left office in January 2021 after his failed 2020 re-election bid and whether he tried to obstruct the government's investigation into the removal of the records.

In a lawsuit Mr Trump filed late on Monday against the Justice Department over the search, he said he was served a grand jury subpoena on May 11 seeking additional classified records.

On June 3, the department's head of counterintelligence and three FBI agents visited Mar-a-Lago to inspect a storage room and collect additional records. Mr Trump received a second subpoena later that month seeking surveillance footage from security cameras, which he also provided.

During the August 8 search, FBI agents recovered more than 20 additional boxes containing about 11 sets of records marked as classified.

Mr Trump's legal team waited for two weeks before filing his lawsuit, which asked a federal judge to block the FBI from reviewing the seized materials until a special master could be appointed.

A special master is an independent third party sometimes appointed in sensitive cases to review documents seized in a search, particularly if the records could be protected by attorney-client privilege.

The Justice Department previously sought a special master following FBI searches at the homes and offices of Rudy Giuliani and Michael Cohen, two of Mr Trump's former attorneys.

Legal experts said the Trump document investigation differed from those cases because the records at issue belonged to the federal government.

"The idea that executive privilege in some way would restrict [National Archives] access to the records, or the FBI's access to the records, sort of just misconstrues what executive privilege is," said Jonathan Shaub, a former Justice Department attorney who teaches at the University of Kentucky's law school.

"The person who gets to decide whether executive privilege is asserted is the president, so the special master would be Biden.
Cheesy Cheesy

"That is the only person who is legitimately able to decide whether turning something over to the FBI would harm the national interests."

He tells the truth about Mr Trump. That's hardly compulsive, no?

Untrue - never happened.

Quote:

Not accurate, The POTUS has the authority to declassify some documents but it has to be done correctly and be correctly documented.

There were a number of times through his term that Trump verbally declassified material in interviews, These declarations were never considered to be official.

The Day Trump Moved out of the White House he was not POTUS.
