Exactly - condemned to entrenched poverty and endless warfare.

The US almost collapsed into civil war with the Capitol riots, and certainly damaged perceptions of democracy  around the world, all because of its failure to introduce "an economy which works for all". (Bernie Sanders).

And of course Putin invaded Ukraine because war is still 'legal', and the body which determines the 'legality' of war is divided.
