Frank is a conservative in a time of rapid change. Like lee he hates the idea of AGW because it brings change and tackling AGW will lead to even more change so he decries all energy that is not from burning oil, coal or gas, ridiculing wind and solar energy.

Social change is also anathema to conservatives.

Conservatives just wanting to hold onto the present and preferring the past have nothing to offer.

Very stupid, Juvenile.

Conservatism is not about holding onto an unchanging past.  Like all conserving - nature conservation, art conservation, fruit preserving, libraries, museums, galleries, souvenirs, etc, etc - it is about holding on to what is good and therefore what is loved. It has never, ever, been about changing nothing.

Just in social reform, some of the greatest reforms have been by conservatives. For example, the first franchise law in England, the Reform act, was a Conservative reform. As was the franchise given to women in 1018. Slavery in the British Empire was abolished by the Tories.
In Australia, it was the Liberal Holt government that ended the White Australia policy, a reform opposed by Labor and the Unions (just as the abolition of slavery in the US was opposed by the Dems). Were these acts of holding on to the past??  The 1967 referendum was under conservative management, as was the 1999 one.

There are lots of other examples. The real point is that conservative reform is ongoing but crucially, it comes from the bottom up, not imposed on ideological grounds from the top down, like most progressive lefty reforms. Social change IMPOSED FROM ABOVE ON IDEOLOGICAL GROUNDS is anathema to conservatives, Juvenile, not change itself.

AGW is a lie. There is no way to prove - only to assume and then model - that human-generated CO2 is the defining driver of climate.

Solar and wind turbines are ridiculed not because the idea is bad but because they are ineffective at this stage yet are ideologically foisted on society. After all, wind powered mills and ships for millenia.

Frank babbles:

“Conservatism. . .is about holding on to what is good”

That is what conservatives say they are about. It isn’t tho, they fear change.

He further goes on to accuse the scientific community of fraud:

“ AGW is a lie.”

Sorry Frank, it is true!

We have known since 1856 that water vapor, CO2 and methane absorb IR. Was an uppity woman, Eunice Foote did that as did, independently, John Tyndall.

We also know the surface of the earth emits IR. In the late 1940s the USAF flying higher than in WWII because of jet planes, had trouble with its bombsights and its heat seeking missiles didn’t work. Scientists were consulted and the IR from the surface was the culprit in both.

So we know what absorbs IR and that the earth emits IR.

IR is absorbed within two metres of the surface by CO2 and water vapor, methane etc. The energy from the absorbed IR is spread to nitrogen molecules by molecular collisions.

This makes the troposphere warmer and the stratosphere colder. It is from the stratosphere that the IR is finally emitted to space, cooling the atmosphere and surface. But the stratosphere is cold and the rate of emission varies as the fourth power of temperature. So less IR is emitted.

Satellites have observed the IR spectrum. Big gaps at the emission lines of CO2 primarily but some for water vapor and methane etc.

So the case is pretty much proved I am afraid. Better stop calling AGW a lie and get to work on it so the good things can indeed be preserved. Idiot!

Propaganda and agitation must today be closely linked together and expanded in their scope in order for the Party to truly meet its responsibilities to the struggle. And those responsibilities are great and expanding, both in uniting with and developing today’s movement and in safeguarding the future, upholding the revolutionary interests of the working class.

Revolutionary agitation and propaganda are weapons of a special sort. They are weapons in smashing the chains of the pessimistic, revisionist view described by Lenin as: “That struggle is desirable which is possible, and the struggle which is possible is that which is going on at the present moment.” (What Is To Be Done? 2C) They enable the Party to relate closely to today’s key events of society and to the present level of struggle without being chained to this level, without revolving everything around it. They are key in enabling the Party to awaken, stimulate, and inspire the exploited and oppressed who are hungry for a way out of this torment of capitalism. Agitation and propaganda are vital in nourishing the seeds of the future in the movement of today.

Ah... so NOT buying your AGW agit-prop and your completely tendentious misrepresentation of conservative outlook makes ME a Marxist??

Your logic and command of the facts and arguments remain as shaky and tenuous as to be expected from a Juvenile Wanker.
You must be that other duck next to Jemima,  gobbling peas.

But it is about maximizing claims on the nation's output -by the most able, or the greediest, or the most criminal.

...."freedom values", ainit....

Hence the conservative contempt for the (marxist) concept of "common prosperity"....

Which is why conservatives won't deal with market failure, such as homelessness. (Note" the Greens want more done on homelessness, the Noalition reckons the market rules, so they combined to defeat Labor's - admittedly inadequate - bill.)

Some confusion over definition of "conservative" there.

"Early activists in the colonies called themselves Whigs, seeing themselves as in alliance with the political opposition in Britain, until they turned to independence and started emphasising the label Patriots. In contrast, the American Loyalists, who supported the monarchy, were consistently also referred to as Tories.

Were these acts of holding on to the past??  The 1967 referendum was under conservative management, as was the 1999 one.

It is interesting how economic self-interest informs the policies of different groups in society at different times.

Quote:

Nah...."might is right" and "he who has the gold makes the rules" is the driving force in human affairs, and it certainly does NOT come from the bottom up.

Quote:
Social change IMPOSED FROM ABOVE ON IDEOLOGICAL GROUNDS is anathema to conservatives, not change itself.

Easily contested, as I have shown above.

Quote:
AGW is a lie.

You tuning into to the media lately? You will have a hard time maintaining that line these days.

Quote:
There is no way to prove - only to assume and then model - that human-generated CO2 is the defining driver of climate.

Difficult also to disprove.

Quote:
Solar and wind turbines are ridiculed not because the idea is bad but because they are ineffective at this stage

Ineffective? Only because the necessary grid and storage has yet to be built.
