Poor old Larry, up to his (boringly) familiar tricks.

Why do Larry’s posts remind me strongly of “Keeping Up Appearances?”’

Did Howard design it, Juvenile Wanker? Really? Not the Constitutional Convention?

The 1998 Australian Constitutional Convention debated the need for a change to the Constitution of Australia which would abolish the Australian monarchy.[5] The convention considered three categories of model for the selection of the head of state in an Australian republic: direct election, parliamentary election by a special majority, and appointment by a special council following prime ministerial nomination.

"In principle" agreement was reached by a majority of delegates for an Australian Republic (though a minority bloc of monarchists dissented). Following a series of votes, a proposal for a "Bipartisan Appointment of the President Model" for an Australian republic was endorsed by a majority of delegates who voted for or against the motion (monarchists and some radical-change republicans abstained from the vote).[6] The Convention recommended to the Prime Minister and Parliament of Australia that the model, and other related changes to the Constitution, supported by the convention, be put to the people in a constitutional referendum in 1999.

Not correct. The republicans supported 2 models and could not agree.Turnbull forced through his prefered option which meant that about 50% of the republicans didn't support it - he split the republican vote in two. The 50% of people who didn't like either republic models were always going to vote against it. In other words the proposed model never had a chance as it was only supported by at most 30% of the community. Turnbulls bullying killed it stone dead. The politicians involvement didn't help by insisting that there was only one model that they would support. they never had any intention of allowing a system where they didn't maintain full control.

The system that the politicians supported was and is the one that the people didn't.

I only just noticed this little gem...

What type of proof do you suggest I send you in order to placate your curiosity (as regards my sex/gender) which is currently based on the solid evidence of unhinged tosspot driven hearsay?

Please advise.

yes - silly rumors started by Monk due to him being unsure about his own gender

No Howard was one of Australia's few Monarchists and he didn't help the cause but it wasn't his doing the way it worked out. The issue was that the model presented (bullied through) was widely not supported even by pro republicans.

Yes, as it ever was: driven by blind self-interest 'survival of the fittest' instincts, unmediated by (cortex-brain) concepts such as 'fairness'.

I loved reading the above post.

Knowledgeable wordsmiths always stand out for me.

Already comprehensively debunked in #539.

Juxtaposition of you and "knowledgeable"  in the same sentence is an oxymoron, as others have already pointed out.

As for Frank, he still hasn't answered my question in #482: namely, what is Thomas Jefferson's error in this assertion: "the money issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people".....

You needn't bother yourself with it, you are even less capable than Frank on money matters, as shown by your resort to 'asking a friend',  when told Lowe could have funded the costs of the covid lock-downs at no cost to the government, because normal free-market supply and demand rules no longer applied, during the lock-downs.

The model DEVISED BY THE REPUBLICANS, not Howard.

In a way the Voice suffers from the same affliction- its partisans cant agree on what they want but ask everyone else to along anyway despite the internal divisions and uncertainties.  Nutty.

If you cant say how exactly your proposed change is for the better then you shouldn't agitate for constitutional change. The constitution is not a poem, capturing sentiment and vibe. It is basic law.

But obviously we need publicly-owned housing as well as privately owned: just look at Oz!

And no, communism can't be summed up in a single sentence.

eg another sentence is: "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" Karl Marx.

Well - dirty Dan is putting a fat land tax on all properties that are rented out starting Jan 2024.
That will be passed on to renters making it even harder for
them to get out of the rent rut.
Labor is entrenching poverty and making the rich richer.
That sort of goes against his communist ideas?
