Much of the 'youth of today' is as stupid and tendentious as you, Bbwian, Mothra, paki et al, their spiritual and intellectual mentors and teachers from kindly to uni, all a product of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
You were, in turn, products of your own class of Stalinists and fellow travellers from the 30 to the 50s.

And so on and so forth, to the French Revolution, to the English civil war etc, etc.

It is not new, for the "youth of today" to be eager for some seductive nonsense, each at bottom concerned with destruction and and fuelled by ignorant zeal. Many, like you, never move on from ignorant zeal, even as they hair and teeth fall out.

Orwell described himself as a "democratic socialist" (as does Bernie Sanders). Marx's ideas on 'communism' predated Stalinist totalitarianism.

But the real culprits today are the neoclassical private bankers running the global economy; currency-issuing governments should not be forced to borrow money to finance the public sector (see the MMT thread).

Replacement for religion. Academics and the young crave meaningful lives. Marxism provided that.

The desire for economic well-being - rather than Marxism per se - must be a factor, as youth's desire for home ownership is destroyed by neoliberal market forces.
