Jew hatred, so long associated with the extreme right wing of politics, in recent decades in the West has become a more prominent and organised manifestation of the politics of an alliance of the far left and the radical Islamist right.
Is that right?
Certainly the Left for a long time has despised Israel's illegal occupation of, and oppression of Palestinians; and moderate (liberal) Western voices want to avoid Islamophobia, seeing all religions as problematic.
Meanwhile some on the Right support Israel's erroneous claims to all of Palestine, and others indeed "hate Jews" as the article says - a divided Right.
Quote: Traditional Western right-wing anti-Semitism still exists, sometimes in an organised form.
Aha, acknowledgement of my last point ...
Quote:Yet left-wing anti-Semitism is today even more corrosive of liberal society because of its strength in major cultural institutions such as the universities and entertainment industries.
How is respect for international law (eg UN res 242) "corrosive of liberal society"? This Murdoch hack is even less in touch with reality than most writers in 'The Oz'.
Quote:Jew hatred organised and supported by an alliance of the radical neo-Marxist left and the reactionary Islamist extreme right is partly derived from their warped and intransigent view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
1. "Jew hatred" is a feature of the extreme Right; the Left hate the state of Israel rejecting international consensus on Palestine.
2. Of course radical Islam is anti the usuper Israel, and hence anti Jew as well.
As for the "warped view of the conflict", the Palestine Mandate should never have been partitioned without agreement of both sides; or
wihout the capability of the UNSC to ensure security for both states. Quote: However, both seemingly incompatible ideologies share a more general hatred of Western liberal democratic civilisation.
As I've been saying all along, your "Western liberal democratic civilisation" is based on the
illusion of 'natural individual rights', and is therefore fundamentally flawed, in effect amounting to 'survival of the fittest' ideology - which indeed the "radical neo-Marxist Left" are determined to overcome.
(And Bobby says I'm blind... I heard all his own mirrors cracking from here....).
Quote:For these extremists the solution to the conflict is not creating a state for Palestinians living in peace alongside Israel but the complete destruction of the state of Israel.
Falsely conflating the Left's calls for a just settlement, ie 2 secure states, with extremist Islamic calls for "from the river to the sea".....
Quote: The latter “solution” is the policy of Hamas
Correct, not the policy of most of the world, certainly not the Left...
