Nobody wants Trump especially the Republicans.

The Longer that Trump stays on the scene the longer it will be till the republicans can be relevant again.

Right now it seems like the Democrats are likely to gain seats in the Senate, but the House could be up for grabs, mostly due to gerrymandered redistricting which always happens once a decade. With more state legislatures under Republican control, you can guess who the gerrymandering favored. Fortunately most of those are smaller states, so they don't have as many house seats up for grabs. (Wyoming, for example... which just traded Liz Cheney in for a full blown MAGAtt... only has one House seat for the entire state)

Given how unstable the US democracy is at the moment it's much more important to win the senate so it does not matter if ol' orange F A T T Y runs or not.

As far as judicial appointments go, that too is more important than ol' orange F A T T Y.. As far as any legislation being passed... all that stuff that passed the House and died in the Senate over the last few years would remain dead if the House flipped over to Joe... er.... Kevin McCarthy and a bunch of teabaggers & MAGAtts running the committees.

As much as I hate "single issue" elections, the right wing dumbasses on the Extreme Court pretty much handed the corporate media the basis for the "it's all about abortion" narrative. Which admittedly is at least a valid issue as opposed to their previous narrative of "sure we suck ass, but we still suck less ass than Trump".

So if that brings voters to the polls who might otherwise skip a mid term election, so be it.... I'll just hope these voters also care about the other important issues like climate change, getting corporate money out of politics, and tearing down this global predatory capitalism before we all go bankrupt at the grocery store and/or gas station.

I agree with that. Overturning Roe v wade was the democrats wet dream. It had almost guaranteed them the midterms.

The Democrats most likely still lose the senate just not by so much.

The Dems still have no real plan to deal with Roe V Wade except to continue to milk it for votes.

Until they can replace some of the judges, I'm not sure there is much they can do.  Not unless they want to try for another amendment to the constitution ... which they bloody well should.

I hope so.

I'll be disappointed if he doesn't run for President in 2024.

Seeing him lose again will be the highlight of the year.

September 4, 2022:

"Last week, the weirdo — he's a weirdo — Mark Zuckerberg came to the White House, kissed my ass all night," Trump said during the speech, going on to mimic their alleged conversation: "'Sir, I'd love to have dinner, sir. I'd love to have dinner. I'd love to bring my lovely wife.' All right, Mark, come on in. 'Sir, you're number one on Facebook. I'd like to congratulate you.' Thank you very much, Mark. I appreciate it."

I know. Trump was the most 'viewed' President in history when he was President.

As was Hitler.

Hitler was never a President. He was a Chancellor.

Both leaders, dear.

But sure, you've found one major difference between Trump and Hitler.

I congratulate you unconditionally.

By the way, was Hitler ever accused of raping a child and then threatening to kill her and her family if she told anyone about the alleged attack?

I'm curious.

Both Fuhrers, Greggery, it's best we get our terms correct.

I don't think Hitler ever allegedly raped a 13 year old though, so yes, there's a clear difference between these two Alphas.

Lisa is technically correct on that point.

The Democrats had their chance and came up looking stupid with their Biden answer that was promoted as much better than Trump, but was anything but - a con by the Media as well.

So where do you all stand?
Poll away.

I voted for "another Democrat candidate".

I'd say there's NO way Biden could be a candidate, due in part to
his then age of 83 years.  Even now he stumbles with responses,
seems confused by some questions, makes verbal gaffes, and relies
too much on what he considers humorous throw-away comments
when he's cornered.  Of course I did, and do, respect him far more
that the arrogant buffoon he replaced—who'll himself be 78 in 2024,
or only one year younger than Biden is now.

I don't know enough about American politicians at ground zero, so to
speak, but I might suggest the then 61-year-old Kamala Harris as my
first choice, or Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar or Elizabeth Warren?

—And as horrible it sounds assuming a Republican win, and assuming
Trump won't be a candidate, I'd guess  Liz Cheney, Greg Abbott, or
   Ron de Santis?

That would be the absolute best music to the ears of the Democrats, as
it'd guarantee the Republicans losing in 2024.      Let's hope he runs.

Yep, agree with what you say about Biden - he won't run.

I think Pete Buttigieg would be the front runner for the Dems, and the only one in the race for the Republican nomination is DeSantis (if the orange douchebag doesn't run).

But I really do hope Mango Mussolini puts his little hand up - it would be so good to watch him lose again.
