He lost the popular vote in 2016, lost it by millions more in 2020, and his popularity has steadily gone down ever since.

Moreover, during his short stay in the White House he lost the House and the Senate.

How is he in with a chance?

The 'stolen election' narrative is still very strong among Repubs in the US; the fact that Trump still hasn't ruled out running again is telling in itself.

Meanwhile US political hyperpartisanship is as divisive as ever.

I hope he does.

I can't wait to see him lose again.

That's an anti Trump video, it's not impartial or unbiased. You blokes are disappointing to say the least. Trump is more popular than ever

Not so... see my earlier post:

Quote:
As of 8 September, Trump's favourability rating has fallen
by another 14.7 points. It's now only 40.3% versus his
unfavourability rating of 54.9%.   [FiveThirtyEight]

This disproves your claim that Trump is "more popular" than ever.
And his popularity continues to fall—for more than obvious reasons.

And what's surprising is that half of US electors think he should
be charged
over the 6 January insurrection.

...

With an apparent lack of GOP support (?) he may as well give up on a 2024 win right now.

The two options I see most prevalent is that:

1) Trump will be forced to run in an attempt to swat the charges against him.

2) Trump will be offered a deal to not run in exchange for not going to prison forever X 10.

The US really do not want to put their disgraced criminal x president in prison if they can avoid it.

Then there are about 10 other charges to be answered.

I would expect the numbers as bad or worse with the stolen documents, this is on open and shut case.

Mr Trump did you have the documents - "Yes" - "Guilty"

Mr Trump, would you prefer black and white stripes or plain Orange ?

We have matching colours for you children.

How good would it be to see Biden visiting a prison for the First presidential debate. With both facing off on the opposite sides of a plexiglass visitors screen.

Only with his hardcore cult members.

He was never popular among sane, reasonable Americans and his numbers are continuing to go down.

I'm sure you'd agree that Hillary Clinton was a very unpopular candidate in 2016.

But guess what?  She beat Trump in the popular poll by more than 3,000,000 votes.

Then Sleepy Joe comes along, and he was even less popular than Hillary.

And guess what?  He beat Trump by more than 7,000,000 votes.

But that was yesterday - let's look at today:

"As of 8 September, Trump's favourability rating has fallen
by another 14.7 points. It's now only 40.3% versus his
unfavourability rating of 54.9%."

"More popular than ever", you say?   Wink

If he runs in 2024 - and I certainly hope he does - he'll lose by more than 10,000,000 votes this time.

I know, Greggery, but those people don't count. We're talking about the Real Americans.

Trump did win c. 75 million votes , cf Biden's c.78 million. It's too close for comfort.

So a confused, incompetent electorate has driven Trumpy mad....

We are all mad..what's with this roughly 50-50 split in democratic elections?

We call it the two-party system, Great. It's HeGeLiAn. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis.

In reality, the blind leading the blind; while secretive, elitist  central bankers laugh all the way to the bank (Lowe won't suffer much from his confused  interest rate gambit...)

Quote:
You people have a one-party system. You have a dictatorship of the proletariat. That's pseuo-MaRxIsT, or what we call state CaPiTaLiSt.

Note: I have outed myself previously ....I'm ozzy (though not ocker...)

But a consensus one party meritocracy might  have some advantages over the confused adversarial rabble aka democracy...

Quote:
Dear Leader only got to where he is by crashing one of two parties, the GOP, or Great Old Party.

Yes, in the blind-self-interestedrabble leading the blind-self-interested oppositional rabble, in the US. .

Quote:
Sleepy Joe Biden's in the Dems. They's called DeMoCrAtS. They compete with the faction that's taken over the GOP, known as MAGA, short for Making America Great Again.

They're a group of white supremacist neo-Nazis who want to destroy the two-party system and make America like Russia (Great Again). Their Dear Leader got busted ordering an insurrection to overturn an elected prez. He also plotted a military coup, but that never went anywhere. The generals hate him, you see, because he called soldiers chumps and dead soldiers losers.

As you can see, their Dear Leader is nothing like your Dear Leader, apart from the one-party thing.

Thoughts?

Trump talks about MAGA, but ignores disadvantage in the ghettos.

A stated goal of common prosperity is a good basis for government.

If Xi can eliminate  corruption, as Chinese living standards rise, he may well put the democracies to shame.

The world is watching....meanwhile Trumpy is still in with a chance, in the US...where half the population are acccusing the other half of the population of being "a threat to the state"...

Without a consensus two party duopoly, Great, Dear Leader would still be in.

Therein lies the benefits of what we modestly call DeMoCrAcY.

Chairman Xi cannot possibly eradicate corruption. A one-party monopoly guarantees it. If Sleepy Joe Biden, a complete cleanskin had a political monopoly, he'd have corruption too.

Corruption is not eradicated by benign dictators, dear, it's SyStEmIc.

Sure, you can have a bit of corruption in a duopoly like America, but the example of Donald J Trump shows us exactly what happens when would-be dictators misbehave.

Nixon is another example, and he was a bunny by comparison. Imagine, a few dirty tricks and a Watergate break in. Kid's stuff.

We now have the example of a Russian-backed foreign agent who blackmailed a foreign power to get dirt on a political rival's son, plotted a military coup, launched an attempted insurrection and stole over 11,000 government records that contain even more criminal evidence.

What would they do with such a politician in Chi-na?

I know, Scope, but can you say that? A few members here have been getting a tad miffed at the slurs on Mr Trump lately, it's so unfair.

Bobby's been posting BREAKING stories from 2016 on Hillary's emails. Yadda's been reminding us of "ballot stuffing" in the 2020 erection and complaining about deepest darkest Africa. JaSin's been getting offended about Blue Democrats or something, I'm not sure, but they're certainly not happy.

Do you think we should go a little easier on their Dear Leader? I recall seeing Rudy at the Four Seasons Landscaping carpark and feeling a little bit sad for them all. There he was, a former NY mayor and presidential candidate, ranting incoherently at a sniggering audience of journos, and he wasn't even getting paid.

No amount of Russian oligarch lobbying work is going to make up for that, and besides, with Trump gone, who's going to take his calls?

The big fella was their only meal ticket. All they've got left is a rabble of fruitloops who can't agree on anything besides banning face masks,  reintroducing segregation and encouraging mass shootings. Theyre not even inspired by the Wall anymore, it's depressing.

Is there anything we could do to cheer them up? Should we let Dear Leade off the hook, maybe?

Thoughts?
