Well - it's all over now... I guess the Keffir will just have to get on in the modern world now... with all the modern benefits flowing freely their way in return for not ambushing people etc... though they still try... seems they remain more intent on killing one another though ..... put 'em in their own homeland and let 'em go at it....

Yes, it wasn't all sweetness and light (although it erupted decades after the treaty's signing).

Caused mainly by mistranslations of what sovereignty meant. The Maori could no longer practise cannibalism, a chief's word was not final, and land could be sold, then held by the purchaser, to the exclusion of everyone else.

Concepts that were untranslatable into Maori in the 19th century.

Well - when you attack people and murder some, you have to expect retaliation. Clearly the intent wasn't genocide or it would have finished the job.

You can't change history and living in the past won't change anything... you need to get into the present and start working on it. In case you missed it, this country is going to the dogs in many ways and it's way past time to put a stop to many of the ideologies doing the rounds and start to wake up again.

3% of the community cannot control the rest... sorry about that... and such things must be resolved by careful thought and planning not by emotional outpourings which are the usual fare.

I've suggested they have their own homeland where they can do things their way to their heart's content - but since they are now only 3.3% of the population they cannot have more than 3.3% of the land... OK?

Better to give each family a house block and say - "Go for it - there is no more!"... that's a far better start than any young couple trying to get a leg in the door of owning a home....

Just another real issue that has sent this country to the dogs... and needs to be fixed NOW.....

The Great Wall of Cape York - Escape From Cooktown...... the equivalent of an electrified Hadrian's Wall across it, patrol boats and aircraft, ship 'em all in and let 'em go at it... throw in a few Musso dissidents and troublemakers and see how they go ..... Shocked
