If 20% of our recent gardening efforts has any result, we will have an amazing next 2 years.

One of our major issues with this wet Victorian weather is the
onslaught of snails and slugs that're eating more of our greens
than we are LOL.

My tomatoes just doubled in height over the last two days... Spring is in the air... and off they go...

Got a few avocados that are a bit off - not the ones I brought back from Queenslund - and might plant those in pots and see how they go.  Got some cherry seeds on the go, too, see how they go sprouting into future trees.  Have to keep them in the fridge for a season or so.... cold winter tree....

Little side business is selling trees started from seed and some plants the same.  Made heaps at a fair with my excess home sprouted tomato plants one year.  Grown locally from seed and thus acclimatised to local environment.

Still going to move the orange and the lemon the turkey previous owner planted in shade here... into a good garden bed near my coffee tree... some good oranges so not yet.

Weather here is good this year - last year was dreadful with the wet and overcast and not much worked well.... tomatoes were dire.... pumpkin tasteless..... carrots only got a few.... spinach doing well this year and things look good.  Got onions, white and red, and garlic in, herbs .... bewdiful green and rich, celery and some lettuce... gotta keep those slugs and snails off...

(sighs) no Blue Tongued Lizard here to tell me the weather report.... remember Bluey - when the rain was coming she headed for the high gardens... Bluey the Weather Meister.

We use these little skinks for our weather reports...

...

They're around 70mm to 100mm long, and usually bask in the sun
in milder weather.  As soon as they all disappear we know that the
weather's about to deteriorate.

The first verb may arguably be conditioned by the preceding 'efforts' (plural) {adjectival phrase}. However this is not convincing in current parsing schema. It's preferable to divert to the head subject expressed in numeric cypher as '20%' (admittedly conditional on the alternative 'if') definitely plural even if fractional. As you can then analyse, it's 'have' not 'has'.

Obviously this has plural consequences for 'result', the wilted, black rusted overgrown plantation where 4/5 are cactus. No, it's cacti.

Today we are at the real equinox of 12 hours day=night. The other is at 25 March. This means that the 'summer' half is longer than winter which is probably global warming from higher road-speeds (and more jet fuel).

My arms are sore and scratched and I've got no fingernails left. My body is aching and I am sunburned (ie very brown).

Why? Gardening. 6 hrs of it.

I've dug, planted, sugar cane mulched, potted and hosed everything. I even threw the weed n feed on all our lawns. The sun is still out and I'm having a cuppa whilst I'm enjoying the view.

I think I'm gonna die soon because I've got a few awful blisters coming up. Still I'm happy with how beautiful it all looks. I miss Mum. We used to do stuff like this together 🥺

Yes I have memories of my mum when cooking. We cooked for occasions together. xmas bdays and such. Now that all comes to mind when I am cooking with my grand daughter and before her my daughter. Happy times in the kitchen.

The memories at one time made me sad but now I smile. I always gardened by myself.

Pure bullshit this. Larry has maybe one or two pots to grow something in. They are receptacles for his cigarette butts.

Ask Larry about growing broadbeans

Watch out for the snakes and blue tongues on the roads - Spring!!  Saw a rolled over snake yesterday - Blackie - and a Bluey done in today, just basking on the road for the heat.

Don't run over them... got out of the car to check the Bluey and a big 4wd with fat tyres came around the corner and squished him... 4WDs with fat tyres... and fat heads inside ... in National Parks they're called Little Dicks.

We seen a few blue tongue lizards around our yards here. It's terrible when they appear suddenly out of nowhere. They give everyone the fright of their life!

It's real weird ... you're there in the backyard happily hanging up the family washing in the glorious sunshine and then you notice what initially appears to be a snake. A few seconds later you realise it's a blue tongue lizard. But those few seconds can really terrify you and anyone else around.

Interesting.

The more I reflect on this the more I realise I'm now gardening and cooking like Mum did on account of the fact she no longer can AND as a measure of respect for her. Perhaps it's the sense of comfort as I feel closest to Mum in the garden. She was always there creating amazing foodscapes.
