I don't think it is boomers. Righties seem to be more prevalent and across multiple generations, possibly the majority of boomers are even more understanding of differences and more likely to take a live and let live stance.
Yes. The ultra right-wingers invariably show far more homophobia and transphobia,
racial vilification, anarchistic aims, civil disobedience, denigration of the disabled, and
fervent support of firearms ownership. In all age demographics.
But, being 76 years of age I for one do believe in and practice a "live and let live"
lifestyle. As long as an individual's actions do not affect my freedoms of choice (or
vice versa) I have no personal issues with whatever they choose to say or do—of
course as long as those activities break no societal laws.
I'm actually bemused by the amount of crude personal insults directed at members
here on the basis of intellect, alleged disability, racism, genderphobia, jingoism, and
chauvinism etc. And
ad hominems seem here to be the main weapon of defence,
albeit a weak and unconvincing one.
One thing that the younger generations lack—but don't comprehend—is their lack of
worldly experience, born of time and exposure to myriad points of view, both valid
and invalid.
As my dear old mum used to say, "You can't put an old head on a young body".
When I was 25 or 35, I seriously thought that was bullshit, but as I aged, the
more true it became. And it's well supported as I read through so many of the
puerile, juvenile comments on these forums, many of which seem to be written
by those recently post-pubescent.
