Give 'em all a job where there's no mandatory work and that'll solve all their problems since those are based on poverty... not based on the way they choose to spend their money, eh?

I'll be attending a lecture by a professor who has studied the former CDEP and its outcomes etc.....I'll report back in due course.

Quote:
Again - I live in THE lowest household income village in NSW - (our net worth is in the fish, prawns and crabs caught - sandy beaches, drinking rum every night) our crime rate is so close to zero you never notice it... it could actually be negative given that Brian and I cut the village grass for free at times... though some wankers reckon that's a crime... must be robbing the invisible council workers of a job, eh?

Well ...depending on the unemployment rate in your village,  cutting the village grass might be a good JG job.....and you will have more free time to go fishing....

But not everyone is living on the coast -  with access to "free" sea food.

More like retirement income....

Nothing in life is free... those lobsters cost me a good yabbying Boong... though I suppose he's lucky he didn't come across Bruce the Great White... someone had a drone on Bruce and he passed right under three freedivers.... you ever seen three white boys walk on the water?

Jeez - I had my shark encounter fifty odd years ago while board surfing... I walked that water.... trust me... you've never seen a board find the sand so fast... nine foot three longboard - one of those short things and my legs would have been hanging down like ripe fruit..

I think we can safely say people don't CHOOSE to become totally and utterly demoralized.

Note: this is not the demoralization of eg, Nazi concentration camp guards, this is the demoralization from loss of self-esteem.

Sorry but yes they do.

Gosh...have you identified a major flaw in humans: some CHOOSE to  become utterly demoralized....

I don't think so. The CDEP scheme succeeded in reducing alcoholism and crime (you should ask yourself why), further tweaking of the scheme, rather than its abolition,   might well be the key to closing the gap.

If the CDEP Scheme had anything worthy to offer, it would have inserted knowledge and ongoing motivation in some to continue the good work... it did not..... which proves it was not producing the 'anticipated' results.... not that it was ever really intended to be anything more than a free ride ...

That's all your 'HEAJ' Scheme (Hand 'Em A Job) will do - give them some ready to spend like sailors for a while until the gates shut on the treasury, and then it'll be back to business as usual...

"Watcha reckon, Igor?  How about 'Hand 'Em A Duty'?  Bongalonga Wackaginadae now has a HEAD Job every day of the week!"?

"Might go well as advertising, boss - but could be mistaken for a free ride..... you know."

It did do that, but the funding - for the nonmarket jobs - was withdrawn, so the learnt skills were abandoned; you can't eat learnt skills which aren't receiving a wage.

Wrong: the participants liked being employed, that's why alcoholism and crime fell.

Wrong again, the CDEP was intended - and did -  create jobs which would give purpose to the workers engaged, and benefit to the community, manifested in the  work done.

Don't worry about treasury: Oz just committed to forking out half a $trillion over the next 3 decades...to create jobs in SA.....no problems with the treasury (though I agree with Keating who has some harsh words to say about the subs...)

Speaking of mental illness .... Bwian have you (conveniently) forgotten how the ids you’ve been implicated in have been caught out confusing their multi screens previously and have answered each other (some even before a question had even been asked).

Ohhh look everyone!!! More manic unsubstantiated and unqualified opinions by an unemployed multi nutter who is scared to offer a link on anything he/she/it posts as alleged fact.

Oh and he’s a bona fide Anti Semitic dhead who thinks the murder of 6 million Jews in the Jewish Holocaust was not much of an event to have demoralised the Jewish people. In fact he’s on record for saying it didn’t demoralise the Jewish people. 😳😐😞

Let’s talk demoralisation for a moment. 6 million Jews were systematically murdered while their demoralised families were only allowed to watch.

Their families were not demoralized, note my comment that the demoralization of Nazi death-camp guards is not equivalent to the loss of self-esteem caused by total defeat of one's culture/way of life.

Quote:
These demoralised families were dispossessed of their humanity and homeland and are still subject to a particular nasty form of racism.

Correct, but they never lost their self-esteem (though some did lose their faith in God....)

Quote:
Today this demoralised remnant has become a self empowered community that’s a (global) force to be reckoned with.

Yes, and addressed above: self esteem maintained by the survivors of a 4 year holocaust, cf. total demoralization of loss of culture over 2 centuries of cultural displacement and economic destruction.

Quote:
Meantime .... NotsoGreat wants to to spend another entire day wanking online about a culture he knows nothing about except for what he has Googled. Idiot!

I think that is what is known as a gratuitous ad hominem attack.

Whereas if I say your vicious, "deplorable" survival of the fittest/individual sovereignty ideology is destructive and delusional, it is not a gratuitous attack, but a reasoned one.

OMG! You’re a bona fide Anti Semitic POS!

Who do you think you are to make ANY call on the self esteem levels of 6 million murdered Jews and/or their families who escaped the physical trauma and torture but not the enormity of the mental agony and legacy of it all?

And I’m struggling to comprehend the little you appear to know about modern or ancient history. Right now I suspect that you deliberately ethnically cleansed the Jews out of your sanitized and depraved version of history so as to minimise the very existence of the Jews.

Dear God you are beyond help!

You have absolutely no shred of credibility left Groggy/Bwian. Not even under that idiotic id!

I have supplied many links re the CDEP scheme previously. Do try to keep up.

No, I said the  holocaust didn't destroy the SELF-esteem of Jews who survived the holocaust.  Spot the difference with your ideologically blind above assertion.

Quote:

Correct, the self-esteem of survivors of the holocaust, and Jews who were not living in Europe during WW2,  remained as strong as ever.

Compared with the totally eradicated self-esteem - which is what I mean by "demoralization" -  of many blacks in Oz,  over the last 2 centuries.

You have decided on your own meaning of "demoralization" ie unendurable suffering at the hands of an oppressor.

You are confusing subject (ie, loss of self-esteem caused by socio - economic factors)  with object (ie unendurable suffering inflicted by an oppressor).

One supporter of Israeli oppression of Palestinians seeking the support of another supporter of Israeli oppression.  Sad.

The entire UN (except for the US and a few other US sycophants - though Biden still wants to make out he supports a 2-state solution...) supports UN resolutions 181 and 242.

This next quote is where the Anti Semite NotsoGreat essentially rescripted history and ethically cleansed the existence of the Jewish people out of it.

Quote:
....self esteem maintained by the survivors of a 4 year holocaust, cf. total demoralization of loss of culture over 2 centuries of cultural displacement and economic destruction.

In essence he’s saying (and he has in fact repeated this Anti Semitic lie) that the Jewish people haven’t suffered like the Aborigines who suffered centuries of cultural displacement and economic destruction. And he takes that non factual invented lie which both ancient and modern history completely reject... to justify his next conclusion : The Jewish people are not and cannot be demoralised.

Ok BRB....I’m off to send a few emails. Cheers everyone.
