It'll be a shot duck... I was going to say something else but I'd better not...

But when the racists stop calling me racist, I'll stop applying pejorative terms to their pets ....  and it seems mine are armour piercing...

as for the re-education camps, that's great divide's way -

No it's not. Separate re-education camps are necessary in Xinjiang where separate terrorist fundamentalists are a threat to community wellbeing.

Guaranteeing employment to eradicate poverty ghettos in Oz, via state intervention (including with education) to eliminate the gap is another matter altogether.

So - as Xavier said - give 'em all the country and let 'em run it... what a laugh... they can't even run a small isolated village with no authorities within miles without killing one another.

Bad idea, we want an integrated modern community in which all can participate, in Oz.

There will be no voice.... it is an utterly stupid idea that is nothing but a recipe for endless trouble.

Well - endless confusion and trouble, yes.

So gulags are perfectly all right as long as the state approves of them?

The distorted interpretation of necessary state intervention into dysfunctional individuals, from a blind, delusional Libertarian, of course.

Nothing to do with capacity - though you have an endless capacity for endless repetition - everything to do with lack of interest in a discussion that is going nowhere.... you've already been given all the answers and you still cling to some delusion of waving a magic wand and fixing the gaps and all... you have no debate ... no argument... just a hope.

I told you slagging will get you nowhere....

Closing the gap is at the heart of the debate, though many are diverted by the proposal for a referendum proposal.

You are merely among the uneducable who either deny the existence if the gap at all, or say it is the fault of the blacks themselves, the ultimate lie.

Pearson recently plaintively noted blacks as being  the most despised group in Australia....it's a cruel world in which the oppressed, rather than the oppressors (ie private sector money usurers in the service of their evil monetary orthodoxy, to be exact) are blamed for their observed dysfunction.

That' not debate.

You need to point to my "lack of understanding", and demonstrate my errors.
Try the last paragraph (or the first two shorter ones) if you can't cope with the entire post.

There is no Aboriginal Voice and no need for one - they already have an absolute majority of people and organisations to speak for them and they never shut up - and such a silly idea will achieve nothing positive, but will instead be a national security issue by creating endless conflict and division.

That's all there is to it - if you want to go on and on discussing the problems of the Aborigines, and in a manner that is derogatory to other viewholders - do so elsewhere - but you are clogging up discussion of this issue that is of importance in retaining a truly democratic country of equals and genuine equal treatment for all by discussing the problems that nobody has yet solved and primarily due to the recalcitrance of the Aborigines themselves.

Mr Abbott also slammed the Albanese government’s push for an Indigenous voice to parliament, saying it would divide Australia and “substantially worsen” the system of government.

He said it would give Indigenous people – who make up around 4 per cent of the population – veto powers over government actions that affect all Australians, and would be a step towards New Zealand’s co-governance with the Maori people.

“I just think this is a giant step down the path towards New Zealand style co-governance and I can’t think of anything that is more likely to divide our country and further gum up what is already, frankly, a pretty clogged up system of government. It’s a seriously bad idea.”

Mr Abbott he was willing to be “heavily involved” in a no campaign against the voice to ensure the “right thing” is done by Indigenous Australians and the nation’s migrant history.

A reasonable view from Abbott, though the national service idea is a copout, unless secure work is offered after.

(btw, how is the NZ treaty model -which Abbott refers to "co-governance" -   flawed?)

Straight from the horse's mouth - Nu Zulland's economy is staggering along and nothing has changed for the Maori with their special deal.... Treaty of Waitangi was a surrender document making them British citizens....

I like the Maori.... got an old NZ SAS mate and great blokes to be with during a Bledisloe Cup game .... but don't let them near the rum.... and they are still the poorest demographic in Nu Zulland regardless of all the fanfare.... but you've never been there anyway, so how would you know?

I helped out in a school in Wullington and saw first hand how some of the Maori kids struggled same as our Abo kids.... for the same reasons... probably FAS in some and poor parenting for others including probable abuse ... not all but quite a few.

Little White Sally was great at drawing the attention and knew everything, but the quiet Maori kid clearly was struggling quietly, and often half doing work and then undoing it.... practical stuff.....without fanfare or making a scene... to me clearly a cry for help... but I was only there for a while....

Most of you have no idea.....
