Will he get to be in on the Voice?

...

If the current criterion – self-identification – is applied, that would open up a can of worms.  We need to know who exactly qualifies as an Aborigine and how those persons establish their bona fides. For example, would any degree of Aboriginality in one’s ancestry qualify?  If so, then the Aboriginal population can only continue to expand indefinitely — expand to the point where this will become less about disadvantage and more  about entitlement.  If not, then where is the cut-off?  Is it 50 per cent aboriginality? 25 per cent?  12.5 per cent?  Wherever it is set, someone is going to be aggrieved.

It cannot be left to Parliament, or worse the High Court, to define, expand or contract this demographic at whim.  If the Voice goes into the Constitution, then it must be the Constitution (by means of a referendum) that defines and redefines – over time and as necessary – who is an Aborigine.

Seriously - when I recognised this ultra-white guy I laughed.  Sad case, really.

Good article. I say only those who 'look like' blacks should be part of the voice (...needs further thought...)

But I note this from 'Quadrant's' home page:

"Hairy man in silly dress cries 'Respect'"...

Priceless. Smiley

According to latest News poll, a majority in most states intend to vote Yes; I will vote yes, but don't care either way, because the nation will still be faced with closing the gap.

That'll ruffle the feathers of the blind supporters of orthodox neoliberal economics...

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Dutton and his mob have crunched the vote numbers and decided it's in their misread electoral interest to support a 'no' vote

He could get toppled over this, if a person was found prepared to drink from this poisoned chalice, so It's most likely Voldemort will still be there to lose the 2025 Federal Election

Regardless - anyone who voted for this voice proposal has rocks in their head.  Just asking for trouble.

Again - haven't met a soul who will vote yes... but who knows how stupid the voting public are, driven by emotion and two brain cells.

No gaps will be closed - they will need to be shut down instead - and their adherents moved on into something that will help them instead..... say Aborassic Park, their Homeland where they can stuff it up to their heart's content without our help, or Gondwanamo Bay for re-education.  Don't know a soul who supports 'orthodox neoliberal economics' ..... you are addicted to the idea that some opposite extreme is somehow the answer and that anyone who disagrees is somehow tied to neoliberal ideas - that's a common disease these days, like trans activists claiming that anyone who doesn't go along with them is a Nazi or something.... and like the voice idea - it won't work.

Good call.

"The Liberal Party resolved today to say yes to constitutional recognition for Indigenous Australians," he said.

But Mr Dutton said the party had issued a "no" to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his government's proposal.

"It should be very clear to Australians by now that the prime minister is dividing the country and the Liberal Party seeks to unite the country," he said.  "We went to the last election with local and regional voices, that is essentially the policy we continue on with, it has been well worked through."

It is very sneaky of Albanese and the Aboriginal Aristocracy to conflate recognition and Voice.

OK - tin tacks - WTF is 'constitutional recognition'?  A simple statement such as:-

"Yeah, yeah - we know you were here first but that was a long time ago now, and you no longer own the country by your rules especially as a minority.  Now get over it and get on with it. Oh - and Welcome to the New Country.  Our ancestors greet you."

I always said that recognition and a voice were two different things and MUST not be voted on together as one.

Anyone care to expound on this?

Oh - and BTW - what happened to Albo's requirements for improvements in KPIs in school attendance, violence at home, criminal activity and so forth?  Looking at Alice and Darwin and Mt Warning car park etc, not to mention the rampant bush and other fires that mysteriously break out, nothing has changed there one bit except for the worse..... so why is there even an offer of a voice proposal?

Did Albo lie to us or has he simply forgotten?  Or are his balls so small he's held captive to every whiner who comes along and says NO to him when he wants his way or the highway?  That's what happens to a man when he's beholden to the sheilas for his position in life and they rule him with an iron dildo.

"The oldest continuous surviving culture in the world" -- Linda Burnie.

Try telling that to Lidia Thorpe who thinks that a genocide has taken place against indigenous people.
