Truthtelling includes sixteen whites, men, women and children, murdered before a punitive expedition caught up with the perps at Appin and killed the combatants and spared the non-combatants.... jeez - UntruthTelling even said that sparing the non-combatants was a crime since they were taken into custody or 'stolen' etc...

How twisted can anyone's thinking get? They killed women and children.... the Whites spared women and children.... so who is the arsehole here?

Time for some REAL Truthtelling, not just this absurd one-sided thing...

"We was driven off our lend!"

"How many thousands of acres did you have left, and can you still, to this day, go hunting crawchies and stuff there?"

A formal committee advancing the No case for a constitutionally enshrined Indigenous voice to parliament will be launched on Monday and warns the body would forever change the way Australia was governed while failing to improve results for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Comprised of former and current MPs and prominent Indigenous figures, the No campaign will propose a preamble to the Constitution and a new parliamentary committee to focus on the rights of native title holders under existing legislation.

The six-member committee has enlisted leading Indigenous voices including Country Liberal senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price and former Labor Party president Nyunggai Warren Mundine. Former Nationals leader John Anderson will also be a key spokesman, and the committee will be administered by former Labor minister and charities commissioner Gary Johns.

Other members include Indigenous Australians Bob Liddle, who owns Kemara enterprises, and Ian Conway, who started Kings Creek Station in the Northern Territory and developed an educational trust for disadvantaged remote children.

The No Case Committee claims it will be the “foundation” group around which the No case will be fought, and is calling its campaign Recognise a Better Way.

"But Aussie, they already have 11 voices in Parliament."

Sure, but those 11 are not there to represent Aboriginals specifically.

Who IS an Aboriginal, specifically?  Whoever says he/she is?  And do they have one Voice? Is there a specific, unified Aboriginal view of what is to be done?  No.

Then WHICH Aboriginal voice will prevail? Which one, single Aboriginal view is authentic alone?  How will the members of a Voice represent all Aborigines? Their views range from Mundine and Price through Kalma, Langton, Burney, Geoff Clarke to Livid Thofpe and the Green Bleks, the Socialist Alliance Bleks and the pissed out of their minds bleks.

How will they be elected or appointed and by whom? If they are to be representative then they need to be elected. And they need to be able to be unekected periodically. Which won't happen if they are goung to be appointed.

The Senate was meant to be the States' house but of course it is nothing of the sort. An unelected Aboriginal voice in the constitution will be an ATSIC that cannot be abolished. It will be as much about party politics as all other parliamentary chambers, federal and state and local councils.

Your other reasons for it are as daft as this one.

I hope they fully explain the "Better Way".... and how to achieve it.

With this level of detail, most likely they will have 6 different proposals....

The monarchists in 1999 remained non-specific too on what steps were needed to ensure "more consultation" with voters by republicans.

Voters by and large have not been informed or consulted.... the unease comes in with the handing over of Ayers Rock without consultation with the majority, same as with Mt Warning in the making with the same 'process' taking place of exclusion of the majority stakeholders... The Lockout of any Voice apart from the ones required to fill the echo chamber .... with a line being drawn and a Rubicon crossed by some already.

Governments need to wake up and stop treating their people with contempt and allowing masked, anonymous and unelected public servants in their shadow government, employed BTW directly by the 'government' under the Senior Executive Service nonsense, to go about making devastating decision on the many to suit a minority.

ALL the 'consultative' bodies to date have been from 3% of the population and a few of their running dogs.... I take that 3% from the statement from the four out of six Aborigines or claimants on Q & A tonight - who said 3%... three shall be the counting of thy number... neither shalt thou count four nor even three point eight.... but three ...

Sadly, someone said this on Usenet back in the day:

"We frequently have laws in advance of public opinion - if we didn't, we might still have homosexuality as illegal. There is a balance between the rights of the majority and the rights of the minority".

Nobody has - to date - offered any solutions - only rhetoric and pie in the sky.

Because nobody dares to suggest the obvioys - Aborigines need to change and the change needs to be driven by Aborigines with moral authority.

Money, however much, is no solution in itself. There must be a cultural change among Aborigines so they can self-direct out of thh ye mire into which they have sank. There are plenty of aborigines who havent. They are the Voices To Aborigines that must be heard and heeded by Aborigines. There is a cacophony of parliamentary, bureaucratic, quango voices talkink past each other.
There must be an authoritative Aboriginal voice TO ABORIGINES. Aborigines must stop tolerating the delibquency, criminality, violence in their own communitues midst.

So one minor glitch means the whole box and dice is wide open to the same deal?  Gays were tolerated for millennia as long as they keep it to themselves... the fact that one law may have been sort of correct does not mean that all such, made in the absence of meaningful input from the majority and a genuine choice of candidates in a democracy, are.

With mt Warning, for example - not a law.... not a law... but with mt Warning, for example, what is the choice for the voting public?  Liberals are the guilty party in handing it over (almost) without any reference to the entire body of stakeholders... Labor will, of course, be much worse in the same situation.

Where is the choice?  NOBODY voted for any of this... it was not in the preamble to any election, and now it is not a matter of whether - but of how, when and where... and the choice for the voter is which group will do the least harm to the majority to suit a minority.

You call that a choice?  This issue will kill Perrotet ... leaving the even worse Labor to take up the cudgels for the Abos - and cudgels they will be., and a far worse outcome will be the end result until we get rid of both major party groups here and get a government that will work for all of the people.

Power To The people!  Plebiscites over any handing over of any part of our national wealth and common wealth.... that will bring into question the vile privatisation of essential services.... and not before time...
