While i concede you may understand more than Crappler (and don't get too puffed up over that, it's not hard), you're still completely oblivious.

There is no "race card" being played because people aren't being agreed with. And this "race card" is not any sort of veto.

So Langton's hysterical comment on eugenics has no relevance?  If the voice doesn't get up - and it won't - the Abos will be wiped out?

I somehow doubt that... BTW I love it when you try to hate on me - you are such a child..... and your views are laughable....  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin

I take it you have no points to make about Langton's faux pas there apart from just refusing to engage with it at all?

An advisory only body for 3% of the population at most that must have the right to stop government at its whim..... what a hoot!!!

Again, you're in no position to be accusing anyone else of being hysterical.

You’re in no position to be telling him that.

There's plenty of substance & if it has no effect on  other Australians why would it be going to referendum?

Why was it necessary for a referendum about Aboriginals in 1967?

Changing anything in the Constitution affects & is the concern of all Australians.

The fact that you say it affects no one except Aboriginals is a lie & shows that any changes based on race are a bad idea & divisive.

There is an ulterior motive behind it being "enshrined" in the constitution.....

& we are seeing that in the comments being made by Marcia Langton.

Religious leaders urge MPs to support voice
Lorena Allam

A coalition of national religious groups has written to all federal parliamentarians urging them to “cooperate across political divides” in support of the upcoming voice referendum.

The alliance of nine national organisations, representing diverse Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish communities, has thrown its collective weight behind the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

The joint letter was sent on Wednesday morning as part of the campaign’s “week of action”. It urges parliamentarians to find ways to “collaborate constructively across political divides to achieve the modest constitutional recognition First Nations people seek: a constitutionally guaranteed voice in their own affairs.”

The letter says:

We draw upon our diverse traditions, beliefs and cultures to unite in support of this just cause.

We respectfully ask our political representatives to do the same.

We call on our fellow Australians to consider the voice proposal on its merits, and for whatever information is needed to inform the community to be supplied promptly.

Future generations of Australians will not forgive us if we fail to grasp the historical moment, and ‘advance Australia’ further along the path of justice.

Whatever our disagreements, let us work together to resolve them. The voice referendum deserves cross-party cooperation.

If we work together across political divides, the referendum will succeed, and we will have put Australia on both a moral and practical path to reconciliation.

The letter is signed by Catholic and Anglican bishops, as well as the National Imams Council, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry as the National Sikh and Hindu councils.

You cannot have a constitution that begins with British colonial history as the beginning of Australia.

Recognising the Aboriginal people as the first people in the constitution effects no one but the Aboriginal people.

No one is saying how changing the constitution dramatically effects others... Roll Eyes

Thanks, Pedro. Good to know. I'm sure this will make it easier for our religious members to support.

Did any Lutherans sign it?

Exactly what is that ulterior motive Albanese and his mates have?

Well, as a country, Australia DID start with 1788.
That Aborigines were here before that doesn't alter it.

Giving a special race-based power to advise on laws IS a dramatic change from equality.

It is stupid/sinister to say, as Tennis Albo et al do, that such a constitutional change will have no effect on non-Aborigines.  Why agitate for something that has no effect?

The only point of having a constitutional Aboriginal Voice is to enable the High Court to abjudicate if insufficient notice is taken of it.
A mere recognition of pre-1788 Aboriginal presence in the Constitution is not what the Voice is about at all. Such recognition could be easily inserted in the preamble without any additional power to advise parliament and government - these are additional matters about Abiriginal sovereignty, not mere recognition.
But Aboriginal sovereignty never existed in Australia - but is being invented now, by Aborigines with more Anglo Celtic blood in them than most migrants since WWII. Oh, the ironing!!!

You don't send communiques through making amendments to the constitution based on race.

Non-blacks who are horrified by the gap can be forgiven for thinking that is the only option left.

Quote:
Any examples of 3rd world poverty have been created by those living in them.

The ultimate conservative lie; poverty has external (geopolitical, macroeconomic)  as well as internal causes (personal responsibility).

They are already adequately represented across the board.

And the gap remains, so a systems change, eg, a JG, is necessary.

The Gap is personal responsibility.

They can stop raping murdering and eating children and evolve

They know right from wrong - and make choices - so The Gap

Yes, but didn't you just say we should take their kiddies and send them to live where we say?

Would you prefer personal responsibility and autonomy, or perhaps something else?

Please explain?

The Initiations for both boys and girls involves extreme brutality and rape - gang rape - prolonged over 3 months - many die

It is the tradition - so its OK apparently

I say no

But the left loves children being raped - connection to Country

The kids are murdered and starved and beaten with absolute brutality - stolen generation resulted

You lefties have all the answers
