Honey - I hate to break it to you, but that's the way all accusers have to go.

But it will discourage other women from coming forward when they are raped.

Well - she's doing her best, on the advice of her lawyers and her ghost writer - to derail this case so as to increase the potential victimhood and 'make a statement', get a name etc....

Jesus.... all this to sell a book?  Make a play for Aussie Of The Year next time?  Kickstart a career in politics for herself?

She doesn't come across very well.... sorry 'bout that...

Anyway, so after she beared her soul to the media, Higgins was non-plussed by the justice system which is structured to test the veracity of her claims via cross-examination.

Even TV court dramas demonstrate how that works.

What, exactly, did this articulate and intelligent woman not understand about the process prior to stepping into the witness box?

Bruce Lerhmann’s lawyers have referred Brittany Higgins comments outside court today to the Australian Federal Police.

Brittany Higgins referred to police by Bruce Lehrmann’s lawyers
for comments after aborted rape trial

Higgins spoke to media after trial of Lehrmann was aborted
by judge following discovery that a juror brought outside research into jury room.

In a statement, Lehrmann’s barrister, Steven Whybrow, noted the Australian Capital Territory’s chief justice, Lucy McCallum, had made “strong comments about people making statements or comments that could prejudice a fair trial”.

“We have brought these comments to the attention of the court and the Australian federal police, and it is not appropriate for Mr Lehrmann or his lawyers to make any comment as to whether the complainant’s statements might amount to a contempt of court or offences against the ACT Criminal Code,” he said.

Under the first condition, he is not allowed to contact Ms Higgins, her partner David Sharaz, Kelly Higgins or Matthew Higgins.

The second condition states he must also inform AFP officers of his residential address or if his residential address changes.

The third condition will see Mr Lehrmann required to inform the AFP if he plans to travel overseas prior to the trial starting.

This must be done at least two weeks prior to leaving the country.

That reads like standard conditions given the seriousness of the charge and the national hype.

Don't go near her (as if he would).

Don't go into hiding.

Don't skip the country (has his passport been surrendered?)

Really?   ^^^^^   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I omitted to add that the DPP will consider whether to go ahead, but I will be stunned if they do not.

Also, contrary to previously, Lehrmann is now on bail conditions....which is a bit of an indication about what the Judge reckons.

It's pretty normal, Aussie - no big deal.... the Judge is neutral remember - unless you have an assymetric judicial system...

Fuq you are stupid!

He has never been on any conditional bail before today!

Fuq you are stupid - what are the conditions?  Surrender his passport, don't go near her etc....what are they?

So now being placed on conditional bail is an indication of guilt?

Talk about assymetric.....

Who said anything about an 'indication of guilt?'  The Judge has now concluded that he needs to have conditional bail, something he did not have previously.  What intervened?

As I said - normal.

But...those conditions were never part of his bail before today.  Do you agree, or must I prove that as well?

This is injustice.

You and Stalin would have got on.

He loved a fair trial, so long as everyone was compelled to give evidence against themselves and someone got shot at the end of it.

I don't agree with our judicial system.
He should also face questions.

So you don't agree with the right to remain silent, then. Just like Stalin.

How would you plan on getting information out of someone? A lead pipe or electricals on their genitals?

If you think the police and the DPP are your friends if you're in their sights, well... Buona fortuna if you just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
