"Correlation does not imply causation" which refers to the inability to
legitimately deduce a cause-and-effect relationship between two events
solely on the basis of an observed association or correlation between them.

Your workmate could well have had multiple strokes after eating
asparagus, or after drinking beer, or even after watching a ball game,
but obviously there'd be no causation with him having a stroke.

At any rate, your little story is nothing more than hearsay, which of
course is never evidence of anyhting. And I'm sure he didn't give
you a rundown of his past medical history after all those intervening
years in order for you to make any correlative conclusions of your own.
You just unquestioningly accepted the story he gave you.

I agree that hospital emergency departments are being overstretched
because of the high numbers of unvaccinated people presenting there.

As the pandemic continues, one may wonder why we’re seeing reports of
more vaccinated than unvaccinated people in hospital, in intensive care
units (ICU), or dying from COVID (as of June 2022).

It’s because so many people are vaccinated that even a small percentage
of vaccinated people getting sick ends up being a larger number as a
proportion of all people sick from COVID, which is known as the ‘high
vaccination rates paradox’.

The chances of being in an ICU bed in any given week if you’re unvaccinated
is 60 per 1 million people, compared with 8 per 1 million people who have
two or more doses of the vaccine. Unvaccinated people are five to eight
times more likely to end up in ICU than those who are vaccinated.

The funny thing (well, not really) is that Sir Lastnail has yet to present any
actual, viable evidence that supports his nonsensical claims about the
frequency of adverse events caused by the COVID-19 vaccines themselves.

Here are some confirmed data:

• Anaphylaxis after COVID-19 vaccination is rare and has occurred at a rate of
approximately 5 cases per one million vaccine doses administered.

• Thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) after COVID-19 vaccination
is rare and has occurred in approximately 4 cases per one million doses administered.

• Myocarditis and pericarditis after COVID-19 vaccination are rare; 52.4 cases
and 56.3 cases per one million vaccine doses. Patients with myocarditis or pericarditis
after COVID-19 vaccination responded well to medicine and rest and felt better
quickly.

In Australia, 13 reports where the cause of death was linked to COVID vaccination
have been recorded from 890 reports received and reviewed from more than 60m
doses administered. Eight deaths were associated with thrombosis with
thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) cases, 2 were linked to Guillain-Barre syndrome
(GBS), 2 related to very rare conditions involving the nervous system, and one was
a case of immune thrombocytopenia.
