Still waiting for my delivery from Amazon via Australia Post.

If you'd had your way, all deliveries would have been delayed due to covid restrictions and lockdowns.

And I would be fine with that.

I don't know what's causing the delay with my chair other than the fact that it seems to be on an Australian "tour" at the moment, haven't seen Covid mentioned so far.

But, what annoys me is that we're now being told that Covid is supposed to be over but it's still being used as excuse for delays with deliveries, etc.

Of course the truth is that Covid isn't over and it is still a reason for delays except this time it's not "restrictions" and lockdowns causing them it's workers being sick with Covid all the time.

Oh, and I really only started this thread for a bit of fun.

Firstly,  are you sure it's  AP? Amazon has its own delivery drivers?

If it is ap then the most likely reason is that there are a lot of  new 'casuals' working on the sorting lines and they take a bit of getting used to.  Most likely got thrown into the wrong bin by mistake which means it goes on the wrong truck. If you call 131318 they'll be able to follow it up for you

Hi, John.

Yep, it does say delivery by Australia Post. I have a AP tracking ID which I blanked out in the image attached to my first post.

It didn't come today but it's now supposed to be arriving tomorrow or Thursday.

But, as I said... I just started this thread for a bit of fun, I was a bit bored before I turned for the night last night. lol.

Huh! Doing a tour of Oz  Grin
That reminds me… airports are ones for misplacing baggage… my friend’s son has his boogie board go to NT instead of Fiji!
And I dropped an extra mobile phone I was taking overseas with me on a domestic flight to Sydney … then we went to international…. After 3 weeks away I enquired about my phone and found it was in South Australia!
I wanted it returned as it’s about $15 then to send to Melbourne only to get told they don’t do that!
They use Pack n Send instead and would cost me $85 ffs!!!
I had to pay that!

The problem will probably be with supply. There is a massive world problem with supply lines and delivery due to the follow-on effects of the pandemic disruption.

Interesting response. Let me explain why.

That's exactly what I'm being told regarding a type of medication I'm on (for a condition linked to pregnancy plus 3 complicated C- sections).

Get this : Australia (yep ALLL of Australia) has apparently run out of this medication and it's ONLY manufactured in the USA and we're STILL waiting for the next container load to come through imports.

👆 This is the type of BS I've been advised by my GP (and 4 pharmacists). Essentially the new picture of horror that is slowly emerging is this:  some of our medications - those imported from overseas will soon be disappearing from off the pharmacy shelves (just like toilet paper rolls did in supermarkets). So when this medication does appear I (along with a lot of other people) will stock up.

Bottom line? We need to be prepared to jump into the car and chase down what we need. Otherwise we'll miss out on getting it.

So today I went round and left messages with 4 different pharmacies around Sydney to contact me the second that medication comes through.

Yes, and you're not alone.

I'd bet this disruption will take up to 2 years to return to the pre-pandemic state.

I'm on Facebook about this now and people are not surprised (given a lot of our goods are imported). Our pharmaceuticals in particular are imported mainly from the US and Germany.

I reckon we may need to look at grabbing scripts from our GP's with as many repeats possible and start getting our medications stocked up and locked up in our home medicine cabinets.

Meantime interest rates have risen yet again today. Inflation is still soaring towards 10%. Whatever is going on it is definitely GLOBAL and off the back of a GLOBAL pandemic which STILL hasn't been resolved. People are still dying every day in Australia from Covid19. The latest figures are bloody awful IMO especially given the country has been mass vaccinated some 3 times for it. Terrible situation 🥺

It may work with some meds but I’ve found if I try to get a repeat script earlier than required… I get told by chemist they can’t dispense it until it’s due.

So I can’t stockpile on meds.
Good luck if anyone can.

Yep, my elderly aunt has to take 4 different tablets throughout the day every day and I look after her scripts and getting the tablets when needed.

After I get a new box of any of these tablets I cannot get another one for 20 days. So, for example, if I got all 4 of them on the same day I cannot get all 4 of them again for 20 days.

I got new boxes for 2 of them yesterday (5th Dec) so I cannot get any more of those 2 until the 25th. I got boxes of the other 2 a couple of weeks back so I'd be pretty close to being able to get new ones of those (she still has plenty left).

What I plan to do is go to the chemist after the 25th and before Jan 1st and get new boxes for all 4 tablets and the 2 eyedrops she also uses (one of those - Refresh Liquigel - doesn't need a script but she gets it cheaper with a script).

The reason why I want to get all of these just before Jan 1st. is because my aunt hit her "safety net" a couple of months back which means after that all of her tablets and eyedrops are free for the rest of the year and after Jan 1st she needs to pay for them again until she hits next year's "safety net" late in the year.

Yes, this 20-day thing with scripts is absurd.  I fall into the same
difficulty as your aunt, Carl, with 4 prescriptions.  Living in a small
country town though, my chemist is pretty cognisant of the issues
of the 20 days scenario, and quietly bends the rules on the QT.

These rules need to change if only for the elderly and those on fixed incomes (our baby boomer phenomenon can't be ignored). The dreadful cost of fuel is another reason; the bloody situation wrt supply is now yet another.

Dear Lord .... here we are in 2022 and our scripts are sitting in pharmacies waiting for the next container to arrive from the USA or Germany before we can access our medications. That's totally and utterly ridiculous and unacceptable.

* Note to Carl (who started this topic) .... please don't think for a moment that this topic has been derailed because it hasn't. Your plight has highlighted a problem all of Australia is facing right now wrt supply.

Find out ASAP, grab fresh scripts from your GP and lodge them there.

That way your scripts can sit quietly in the queue (and make no mistake because for some medications there is definitely a queue right now).

No worries, Lisa.  Cool

The other thing with scripts now is that GP's cannot fax scripts directly to chemists anymore. I think that was something started by the government during Covid lockdowns?

Came in handy because if my aunt needed new scripts I just had to ring her GP and the scripts would be faxed to the chemist (I gave the GP the chemist's fax number, of course).

Now we have to get the scripts directly from the GP - I don't believe they're even allowed to post them out. Not too sure because we've never asked the GP if she could do it.

Doesn't normally cause a problem though because we've always made sure we've have enough tablets and script repeats until my aunt's next visit to her GP.

You might be interested to know….There’s actually a new service I saw advertised…
You can order your scripts from the internet and have them delivered to your door!

Can’t remember the actual name but….Here’s a couple I found online…

1. Telephone appointments still prevail here (in Sydney). Seriously these are the best as no travelling is involved --> it's cheaper fuel wise AND there's no risk of running late.

2. Scripts which result from 1. are sent directly to the pharmacy you nominate OR

3. Scripts may be texted to your own mobile phone. Said script will come up as a QR code. This means YOU are free to turn up at any pharmacy you like and hand over your mobile at the counter for that pharmacist to process.

Note : Nothing beats a face to face consultation though. Even so telephone consults come in handy.
