Why would anyne buy a UBD when google maps does it on your phone? I don't use a phone when I'm driving. I'm a responsible motorist. You, not so much. There are Apps that talk to you set your destination then it will tell you turn left 200m turn right 100m etc until you reach your destination. Hopefully they tell you when to breathe in, and when to breathe out too. When I get in a car, I know where I'm going and I know how to get there - I don't need anyone telling me where or when to turn left or right. I'm sure that's just more of your "look at me, I would never go to Bali" type posing but it does not line up with your previous post. greggerypeccary wrote on Dec 11 th, 2022 at 9:19pm: I still have one in the back pocket of the passenger seat in my car.
It's all I use.
Who really gives a rat's arse about what maps people use? Yes, I look in the UBD, memorise the route, put it back in the seat pocket, and then drive to my destination. I've just never understood why people need to be told where to turn left, where to turn right, what exit to take on a roundabout, etc. Look at the map, see where you need to go, then drive there. Simples! You can't do that with a phone? I don't want to do that with a phone. Why would I? Why would you look it up and memorise it from a book? Because it's always there. Power goes out - it's still there. Internet drops out - it's still there. WiFi dies - it's still there. Reliable and easy to use. So basically you'll be fine when the appoccyclips is upon us? They'll call you "The Navigator" If it comes to that I'll just lift one.
