No. That is a red herring. Had Jewish migration remained low after WW2, Arabs would not have reacted as they did.

The British could not prevent or deter mass Jewish migration into Palestine from 1945 to 1948 and were morally hamstrung by the genocide of European Jews during WW2 - the cause and blame for which Jewish groups in the US and across the world laid squarely at the feet of all Christo-western nations.

Let me remind you that context of this debate is about Zionism, whether it was deceitful, and runs in contrast to national interest of USA and its allies. The Zionism movement itself started in central and Eastern Europe during the late 19th century. It gained traction with the Balfour Declaration in 1917 - in which the British Empire announced its support for the establishment of a national home for the Jewish in Palastine, then an Ottoman region with a small minority Jewish population.

This declaration was the first expression of support for Zionism by a major power, it is monumentally important in shaping the geopolitical landscape in the next few decades, and therefore I believe it is not a red herring.

Did they discuss the Holocaust?

Workers in care homes who attended to Holocaust survivors reported how many of them regressed to the Nazi era and became terrified and/or suspicious of anyone who appeared to be in uniform. Some tended to hide food under their mattress or other places.

And definitely don't risk speaking to them in German, even if they appear to have a German accent.
