2. Like I said, forget Trump: Biden wants a 2-state solution, Zionists want the whole of Palestine

1. I must be "imagining" the people on the website ozpolitic.com

2. Biden recurringly claims he's a Zionist over a long period .... spanning decades in fact.

My question to you: Are YOU claiming that Biden is lying OR are you claiming that Biden does not know the definition of Zionism? Which is it?

You are not imagining them, you are drawing your own erroneous conclusions from what they are saying.

Quote:
2. Biden recurringly claims he's a Zionist over a long period .... spanning decades in fact.

And yet Biden wants a 2-state solution, the official US position for many decades.  Needless to say, I'll bet newly elected Netanyahu was MUCH happier with Trump as president than he is with Biden.....

I'm saying Biden wants a 2-state solution, I'll let you define Zionism, we can't ask Biden for his definition.

Now I reckon Netanyahu IS a Zionist - he seems to have officially rejected the 2-state solution, last I heard.

At least you admit Israel is not a 'beacon of freedom and democracy."

And as the good professor says, "The fact that you allow people to participate in the formal side of democracy, namely to vote or to be elected, is useless and meaningless if you don’t give them any share in the common good or in the common resources of the State, or if you discriminate against them despite the fact that you allow them to participate in the elections."

As shown, Israel is not "equally inclusive."

Still, which of Israel's neighbours operate like what is described here?

I missed the bit where you make sense. Being free to vote and run for office is pretty much the definition of democracy. What exactly do you think they are being deprived of?

Not if "you don’t give them any share in the common good or in the common resources of the State, or if you discriminate against them despite the fact that you allow them to participate in the elections."

Besides, democracy means much more than just being allowed to vote, i.e. the principle of equality of rights, opportunity and treatment, and the practice of this principle.

WTF? Did you not see that UN report linked above?

Additionally:

"Al-Araqib is one of 35 unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev desert in southern Israel, which means Israel refuses to provide residents with connections to the national water and electricity grids, provide them with health and educational services, or any basic infrastructure. Over the years, the village has become a symbol of the struggle against dispossession of Bedouin from their land, and for state recognition of Bedouin villages in the Negev.

"Despite being citizens of Israel that are supposed to enjoy equal rights, the Israeli government, the Israel Land Authority, and the Jewish National Fund have been waging a slow and methodical war of attrition against Bedouin residents of Al-Araqib in an effort to expel them and plant a forest atop their land."

This Bedouin village has been demolished by Israel 120 times

Have you seen how tiny Isreal is?  Isreal is a THIRD of Tasmania.

A third.  Of Tasmania. And the Arabs begrudge it.

They want much more than that. They want Greater Israel, the land from the River Nile to the River Euphrates:

Quote:
In his Complete Diaries, Vol. II. p. 711, Theodore Herzl, the founder of Zionism, says that the area of the Jewish State stretches: “From the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.”

Rabbi Fischmann, member of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, declared in his testimony to the U.N. Special Committee of Enquiry on 9 July 1947: “The Promised Land extends from the River of Egypt up to the Euphrates, it includes parts of Syria and Lebanon.”...

The idea that all the Arab states should be broken down, by Israel, into small units, occurs again and again in Israeli strategic thinking. For example, Ze’ev Schiff, the military correspondent of Ha’aretz (and probably the most knowledgeable in Israel, on this topic) writes about the “best” that can happen for Israeli interests in Iraq: “The dissolution of Iraq into a Shi’ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” (Ha’aretz 6/2/1982). Actually, this aspect of the plan is very old.

https://www.globalresearch.ca/greater-israel-the-zionist-plan-for-the-middle-eas...

A bit a fantasy by the Arabs but in any case, it would be a great improvement on what is there now.

By the Arabs?

In his book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, Jimmy Carter says:

It would be almost politically suicidal for members of Congress to espouse a balanced position between Israel and Palestine, to suggest that Israel comply with international law or to speak in defense of justice or human rights for Palestinians. Very few would deign to visit the Palestinian cities of Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron, Gaza City or Bethlehem and talk to the beleaguered residents.

FMD Woody! Is the above link the ridiculous tripe you are saying is a UN linked document?? Or is it the other link you provided before it?

It's not you bloody liar! Freediver is right in questioning you about your link/S.

BOTH are from this well known nutter --> Dr Israel Shahak !!

So let's take a closer look at the nutter you are relying on for a little credibility Woody!

"As a public intellectual, Israel Shahak was accused of fabricating the incidents he reported, of blaming the victim, of distorting the normative meaning of Jewish religious texts, and of misrepresenting Jewish belief and law. Paul Bogdanor claimed that Shahak "regaled his audience with a stream of outrageous libels, ludicrous fabrications, and transparent hoaxes. As each successive allegation was exposed and discredited, he would simply proceed to a new invention."

Already addressed: we don't know what is Biden's definition of Zionism, but we know he supports a 2-state solution, also the official UN and US position.

Is that compatible with the Zionist position? Are there  several Zionist stances re the 2-state solution?

I haven't listened, I'm interested in ending the illegal occupation of the West Bank, and I heard Biden say (a month or two ago) he wants a 2-state solution.

Does Biden reject a Palestinian state alongside Israel, in those links?

I don't see any reason to believe a two state solution would succeed. The first thing necessary would be an end to violence. Ain't gonna happen. The "Two State" idea provides "world leaders" (hate that term) with a posture that sounds like they have a plan. They don't. The problem in the Middle East is religion combined with tribalism. Anyone who has listened to "world leaders" waffle on about Palestine for their entire life, will just tune out, unless they are very young.

A fair summation of the situation, given the lack of proper international law.

But the desire for a 'just' solution in Palestine - via 2 states - runs deep in the UN:

"In 1947, after looking at alternatives (for dealing with the British Mandate in Palestine 1917 - 1947), the UN proposed terminating the Mandate and partitioning Palestine into two independent States, one Palestinian Arab and the other Jewish, with Jerusalem internationalized (Resolution 181 (II) of 1947).

The resolution is still on the books..... and even Biden, 75 years later, officially supports a 2-state solution.

But unofficially...reading between the lines of what Lisa is saying, Biden is probably just biding time...doesn't want to be seen to be offside with the majority of the UN members who want a 2-state solution  (unlike Trumpy, who wouldn't give a damn about world opinion).  i
