Like I said, given a functioning international rules-based system (quite easily instituted, as Evatt described in 1946) a nation doesn't need a military to defend itself from other nations; a nation needs a police force to defend its own citizens against its own lawbreakers.

So what do they defend themselves with if another country invades?

Unlike individuals, countries won't need to defend themselves against other countries, if an international rules-based system is established,

Note: the logistics of raising an invading army are logistically impractical, if all national militaries are disbanded under an international rules-based system.

So at last, men - ie individuals - will be reduced to fighting.... not other nations, but other men (ie individuals) in their own country.
