McCarthy "struggling"?

Nope, the entire GOP is struggling to maintain any sort of political
relevance. Unfortunately for the party, its focus for 2024 is being
disrupted by the failed former president, who should quietly retire
into the background and let the GOP develop and promote a decent
platform in preparation for 2024.

McCarthy is the leading candidate to replace Nancy Pelosi but is now
struggling to win the support of a small group on the right of his party.
Even with an endorsement from Trump, McCarthy fell short, although
Trump's endorsement could be seen by many as the kiss of death.

McCarthy became the first nominee in 100 years to fail to win the gavel
from his fellow party members on the initial vote. Oh dear.

A speaker's contest last went nine rounds in 1923 when MPs took
several days to elect Republican Frederick Gillett.
