It's mating season for the bull sharks, so I guess they're a bit more agressive than usual.

A truly horrific thing for the poor girl and her friends to go through.

I've been told the injuries were extensive and ... well ... not nice.

Condolences to her family and friends.

When we were in Perth for the H2O gravity games … (mostly on the water) we heard around the 2 pm ish they called it the Fremantle Doctor as the cooler breeze came in.

So does that correlate with the dolphins/sharks coming in at that particular time?

Could be, I guess.

But yes, the 'Fremantle Doctor' is what we call the afternoon sea breeze (the good doctor brings us relief from the heat), but it can actually come in at all different times (usually between about 11am and 3pm).

And it was a beautiful thing, I don't get it anymore but I grew up a coupla miles back from Scarborough. I don't think the sharks/dolphins are related to the sea breeze. My wife spent a lot of time growing up around Point Walter.

Sharks these days - once we were eating them at the fish shop - now it's the other way around.... seems like one a week nowadays....

Someone up here shot two in the lake..... sad, but obviously held a grudge... the butcher's mate was the bloke killed up this way late last year. Every time I look at the old surfboard and think of the fitness..... I think again... Bruce the great white has been too busy despite the local Abos having a quiet word with him to tone it down.

I've heard that the jelly fish in the Swan River move about in relation to the winds (rough waters, etc.) but must admit I have absolutely no idea about such things or even if the jelly fish story is true (the Swan River is FULL of jelly fish).

Anyone got some expertise in this area?

They do every where .... on the east coast northerlies bring in blue bottles/portuguese man o wars

& other jelly fish....... box jelly & irukanji are different as they swim in their own directions..but also wind affected..

but sharks are not perturbed by which way the wind blows.

They(especially bull sharks) would have been forever in the Swan.

People are too complacent.

Professional fishermen here say jelly fish move into the river systems or a spawned there when conditions are right ....

it hampers their efforts in catching banana prawns because the net bags become full of jelly & near on impossible to lift.

WA is another state that has so many more superior fish species to eat.

In QLD it may have been basics when you went to the Fish & Chip shop ... like mullet, flathead or cod........

but it was never shark.

The scariest shyte you can be dished up now though is that crap called BASA - imported Vietnamese Catfish.... grown in turd ponds & fed all sorts of hormones & chemical concoctions.

It's importation should be banned.

Sad thing is dopey Australians buy it not knowing what the phukkk it is.

Back then it was just 'fish and chips' and you got what they had... kids wouldn't know the difference. Now I can go to the fish shop and buy fried flathead tails and such and know what it is.
