You can live in the world of what IF.

I'm happy to live in the world of what IS. I've ALWAYS posted ad nauseum about my Gen X status AND that I was a 1970's model yadda yadda yadda and I'm forever making fun of Baby Boomers.

How you missed all that has got me 🙃.

1. You've got a diminished theory of mind.

2. I don't read all of your posts, so I'm not up-to-date with every aspect of your life.

1. Nope. But I suspect you do. Males tend to over represent in that particular area.

2. Even if you had read 10% you would have known. Diminished Theory of Memory perhaps?

I guess I've read less than 10% of your posts, then.

And yet you've answered well over 50% of them.😂🤣😆

In this thread, maybe, but you posted on average 6.75 times s day. I'm sure I haven't responded to or read 4 posts of yours a day.

You on the other hand post an average of 15.1 posts a bloody day!

And I fight with you online a lot too. That's a fact!

So guess what pal ... I reckon you respond to me more than you're letting on! Face it. You DO!

And that means you DO read my posts because when you respond to me you hit at little bits of my posts hoping to make me feel miffed.

Not enough to know you're not a boomer, I guess.

Just so you know ... I'm only chatting to you like this because I'm really trying to figure out what other id you use.

And the more I chat to you the more I'm working that out.

So that's why I'm not allowing myself to be miffed easily by you.

Ah, back to that again.

So long as it doesn't lead to PMs.

Technically speaking there are Computer nerds in all age groups. And vulnerable people in all age groups. It is too broad a brush to any age grouo. Wink

And not a level field.

Boomers, Gen-X and millennials have reached and exceeded the age of full maturity. The oldest Gen-Zs have barely reached 25.

Then there is the sleight of hand with the birth year range. COSBOA has Boomers at 18 years range, Gen-X and millennials at a 15 years range while Gen-Z at a 13 years range,

The unit co-ordinator at my university made a response to my request to have an extension to one of my programming assignments. He told me that he would ride his bike 20km to and from the Sydney university where he learned programming, everyday. And he would make use of suburban trains whenever they were available. He learned what he needed to learn about coding inside 6 weeks of dedicated study. He was not about to give me an extension for a deadline to an assignment that only took 2 weeks of study to understand, when I had a whole 6 weeks beforehand to do the subject.

Sixty something years old and he had been in the lecturer game for the previous 15. It is not as though he is incapable of writing his own cybersecurity software, either.

LOL... maybe so in a few cases.   But it was the
Boomers who designed and built those VCRs.          Grin

The VCR was designed and developed in 1956. The home video was built from the original VCR in 1964.

So it was people from the Greatest Generation (1901-1924) and the Silent Generation (1925-1945) - the two generations prior to the boomers - who designed and developed the VCR.

Yes!
I’m a little tech nerd and always looking at and buying new tech stuff. I’ve always bought tech stuff as gifts for my kids and hubby.
And I prefer fast 3.0 usb sticks to slippers for Mother’s Day!

Now… my story is… after I completed my year at business college … fastest typist and loved practicing my Pitman’s shorthand keeping up with the news at night.
I worked for the ATO in the legal dept typing pool at first…
Then new computers came along changing from paper punch to metal/magnetic reels.
IBM it was.
They needed typists that were interested to do computer work for more pay.
Anyway… I meant to say I’ve been with computers since about 1974.
I just love new tech.
I have the newest iPhone. Digi cam with Bluetooth. Dash cam. Smart TV. Etc
My hubby is old tech knowledge as he was an auto technician mechanic. He knows all the old fashioned set up and wiring of units, vcrs etc which I’ve always admired.
But he can’t fathom all this new digitised stuff where I can which he admires!
It’s so funny how things have flipped around.
I’m trying to wean him off his 15 year old Samsung flip phone to learning how to use the IPhone.
I bought him an iPad Pro and have been easing him into that also.
A little every day.
For years with the advent of desk top computers and laptops I would help out my own gen (boomers) with their tech queries of how to … etc my fave places I like to go to are Officeworks, jbHifi,
I never thought of myself as clever… as it was just something I found easy to comprehend.
In 2002 I actually went on the WWW with dial up. I’ve kept a lot of old tech books and floppy discs etc as it’s history. Vintage now.
I’ve even got an old Olivetti typewriter… my daughter’s friend… her 14 year old asked when she saw it “what’s that?!”

I’m on the computer a lot sometimes with programmes I’ve purchased to process photo shoots I do.
(Recent one was a pregnant mumma as we went outdoors in nature taking photos.)
I do a lot of online photo books that are printed.
Use lots of creative imaginative stuff.

And I’m the one that likes to go to those mystery rooms to find clues to get out… but none of my family want to!
I ask “what’s wrong with ya’s!!”
There needs to be 3 people minimum.
I love a good challenge but gee what sticklers my Millenium kids are!
Pffft!
I might ask my daughters new beau… he’s an X gen!
Next time I see him ….

I’m much the same Meister. I don’t read everything to be up to date either and I don’t post a lot.
But sometimes a topic will grab my attention and I read it thoroughly to learn … even if I don’t put in a reply…. Some threads are good to a point until it gets crummy or hijacked and goes off course Roll Eyes

Well…. This doesn’t much matter what age or gen we are!  Shocked

Anyone else know about these public charging stations? I think I once used one at an airport but I don’t think I will ever again after seeing this….
