Now now we need to be more fair and compare apples with apples, this is simply not the same thing. Biden does not have millions invested in China and a substantial bank account to protect. This event was likely a strategic move to prepare the US mindset for a complete decoupling from China under the CCP and to prepare for a possible confrontation.

It's also been proposed that the spy balloon was deployed by the PLA, without Xi Jinping's being aware of it, to hinder any warming of relations Xi might have had in mind between the US and China.

A totalitarian leader is only as strong as the military's support he can rely on - and Xi is known to be a loner.
