US jet shoots down ‘unidentified object’ over northern Canada, Trudeau says

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Saturday that an “unidentified object” had been shot down over Canadian airspace on his orders.

“I ordered the take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace.

"@NORADCommand shot down the object over the Yukon.

"Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object”.

Another unidentified object has been shot down over North American airspace, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has confirmed.

He said the latest object "violated Canadian airspace" and was shot down over Yukon in north west Canada.

Both Canadian and US aircraft were scrambled to track down the object which Mr Trudeau says was taken out by a US F-22.

Mr Trudeau says he gave the order and he spoke with US President Joe Biden.

"Canadian forces will now recover and analyse the wreckage of the object," he wrote on Twitter.

He thanked the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) which earlier said it had been monitoring "a high-altitude airborne object" over northern Canada. NORAD carries out air defence for the US and Canada.

The White House said the object has been tracked and monitored "over the last 24 hours".

"Out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of their militaries, President Biden and Prime Minister Trudeau authorised it to be taken down," it said.

"The leaders discussed the importance of recovering the object in order to determine more details on its purpose or origin."

Yes - I wonder about that too.

With that large balloon last week they had it smash into the ocean.
It would have been so much better to make it descend slowly
so they could have an easy time figuring out what was in it.

It may help to know what you are talking about.

North American air space is protected by a combination of US and Canadian planes under the ultimate command of a senior officer from both countries.

So Trudeau ordered the thing to be shot down and Norad complied as per their mandate. Norad is comprised of US and Canadian air force groups.

I read it as Gregg being sarcastic if you are talking about the post I suspect. He meant the opposite IMO. He was throwing that back at the previous post knowing that it was rubbish. The previous post was blaming Biden for what Trudeau had done.

I am not playing anything just trying to clear up what seems to be confusion about nothing.
