Nonsense.

Programming your own mind is nonsense. The metaphors- download, program,  etc - are giveaways to the nonsense.  In the 16th century the mechanical clock, then a recent invention, was all the rage as a blueprint for the human person. Man was a machine then.  With the advent of computers, the metaphor is updated.

But it is still complete nonsense. Reductionist nonsense.
Anyone who tells you to imagine human beings in some simpler, reduced schema is taking utter bollocks.  The thing about humans is that we are a completely separate category, radically different and incomparable.

We have to make our way in our uniqueness. We are not super chimps.

A bad case of Yankism!

If it ain't obsessive religiosity, it's money or both.

They can't help it.

The narrator had to slip in the drivel that rich kids make it even if they're stupid and the poor kid is doomed - Yankist religiosity.

Grin Grin
Reaction formation = litmus configuration.

Agree with me. I am right and I have the 'litmus configuration' to prove it.

I've seen this word quite a lot in recent years, but I am not convinced its a real word. "Unique" is an absolute. It doesn't have degrees.

You'd quibble, then, with Thomas Jefferson's, 'We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union'...

Monsters From The Id.... that is what social sciences have become.... intellectual Nazis who know their own supremacy only too well over the Untermenschen..... you reckon they don't exist?  Look around you at any house of learning...... argue a trendy thing with them...... they wield the power of pass or fail ....................................  think of it, Morbius - eight billion cubic miles of cables and pipes operating a machine that could never be turned off...... to one end, Morbius... the instant creation of ANYTHING purely by mind control and the transporting of it to anywhere on the planet instantly.... but they forgot one thing, Morbius.... their own subconscious lust and desire to kill....

My poor Krell......... after millions of years of shining sanity.... they could scarcely have understood what was destroying them......

Most of you scarcely understand what is destroying you and has been for forty years now..... as long as I've been in the trenches....... and many of you think it is just normal ....... all this death and destruction and demolition of civilisation .... monsters from the id.. people....monsters from the id.....

Well - look at the private school twerps in politics running the show in fine style and fine upholstering...... as a very minority now the LNP must have every member a shadow minister.... Jesus - that's the party to get a gig in right now!!  They had 42 ministers out of 76 ...... do they even hold 42 seats?

I seem to remember a certain Tony Metherill Educational Minister's 'Scaling System' based on that very thing.
Where a smart poor kid in Mt Druitt studies hard and scores well in the HSC, has his mark 'scaled down' due to the failings of all the other kids in his school.
While a dumb rich kid in Kirribilli bludges around and fails the HSC, but his mark is 'scaled up' from the success of all the other kids at his St Aloysius school.

No offence Aqua.
But you do realise that anything that comes from America medically is - Psychotic.
