Agreed, many threads here do start out with perfectly amenable toing and
froing by respondents, but all too often are derailed—usually by the same
small group of malcontents (and we all know who they are don't we?).

I put this down to a lack of timely, proactive, responsible moderation. It
also results from too many members—and the moderators—ignoring the
very clear rules set in place to limit this sort of bullshit.

The most obvious and frequently abused rule of this site, Personal
Criticism, is the main rule ignored every single day, multiple times:

Do not post personal criticism of other members. Do not respond
to personal criticism of yourself or other members. This is the biggest
problem on OzPolitic. Too many members are easily baited into off-topic
personal exchanges. If you participate in any kind of flame war you will be
suspended, regardless of who started it or who you think ‘deserved it’.

The cutline to these rules says:

Please ensure that this rule and the others are followed and if
you do not, then you should expect the relevant consequences.

These threatened "consequences" of course NEVER transpire.

And if you delve into the history of Ozpol Geoff.
You will find that at the center of all that you dislike - is 'Aussie'.
The irony of him posting an Abuse Free Sub Forum is just another one of his cons.
He is known for abusing and bullying female members throughout Ozpol history.
Known for hijacking Topics into 40 pages of grinding he said/she said trolling with himself at the center of attention.
He is known for his countless lies and deceits.
If you think Monk is bad, Aussie can be just as bad.
Aussie seeks 'power' like Mod or Admin, etc (which is why he couldn't hack it under Monk's authority) because he needs that to manipulate and control others.
He doesn't give a hoot about FD's PA doing great.
He just needs people to join so he can relish his 'control' over them.
He'll lure you in, then he'll tighten the screws.

I can assure you that Aussie will definitely ban you if you breach the rules of a sub forum there. I myself have been banned by Aussie a few times over at PA. These bans were admittedly not lengthy but they were an effective way of giving me time out to step back and take a breath...see the bigger picture and not get too stuck on a person/topic.

Re the new sub forum Aussie has introduced : it is different and promises to be different in a POSITIVE way as it is a more inclusive opportunity for members to discuss topics without the abuse and put downs.
