Having worked Respiratory Nail.
I can assure you - Masks 'Help' considerably.
Better to have one, than not to have one.

Now in regards to a Pandemic. If you can afford to give 8 Billion people state of the art full-proof PPE and Masks, rather than the cheap common versions - then go right ahead. Grin

Making excuses that common surgical Masks don't work, because you can't afford better - well, that's pretty cheap of you.

So, "Dr." Campbell went from definitely stating "Masks in hospital, don't work"

to

"We are uncertain whether wearing masks or N95/P2 respirators helps to slow the spread of respiratory viruses based on the studies we assessed".

OK then.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that 'baggy blue' surgical masks in hospitals (which seemed to have been the 'go to' choice, probably because they're cheap) would be almost useless... especially when a lot of the nurses, staff and even some doctors are wearing them under the nose or using them as chin warmers like a lot of patients have reported seeing... even when masks were still mandatory in hospitals and other healthcare settings.

Mate. If a common cheap masks stops 40% of infection or workplace dust - then use it!
If you can afford a friggin Space Suit to void 100% infection until you run out of oxygen - then use it!

It's not black or white Nail.
I was using my Scuba Reg and Tanks of Nitrox during the WildFires a few years back. Everyone else was jealous and appraised me, while only able to wear surgical masks to MINIMALISE any smoke effect they could.

Trust me Nails. Those cheap surgical masks DO WORK. Because it might just be that mere 10% of infection that they stop, from you catching 'any' airborne contagia.

So again, unless you have the $$$$ to provide people with superior PPE and Masks against contagia - it's best you stop your whinning and just wear what you can afford, eh? Wink
