I always remember, and enjoy, this story from Barry.

Can't remember if it was in a book or at a live show.

Anyway, he had split up with one of his wives and had subsequently moved out of the marital house.

After a few weeks he realised that he had left behind an expensive painting that he really liked and so he decided that he'd go back to the house and ask his estranged wife if she would give it back to him.

When he got to the house there was nobody home.

Dejected, he walked back down the stairs and peered briefly into a skip bin sitting on the front verge.

Inside was the painting! (His wife had always hated it).

He bundled it up, put it into his car, and drove off into the Melbourne sunset   Smiley

I don't know why, but I just love that story.

Great man - a true talent.  It'll be a sad day when he leaves us.

Not in the same league, but a pretty funny (and smart) guy.

His death was quite sad - passed away in a damp London flat sitting in an armchair watching TV and eating Pop-Tarts.

His body wasn't found for a few days, once it started to smell.

Not nice.

He certainly provided me with some good entertainment when I was a prepubescent lad.

    T

Much-loved entertainer Barry Humphries has died aged 89.
Humphries, who was at least as well-known as Dame Edna Everage and the other iconic characters he created as he was as himself, passed away on Saturday.
The comedian and actor has been in Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital after complications from hip surgery in February.

I always found Sir Les Patterson to be just to realistic a portrait of our corrupt politicians.  It was scary good.

Yes  Grin
One of his amazing characters!
He was so out there, ahead of our time especially as Dame Edna. And he did it so well!
Our iconic Aussie talent.
Sad news… so many of our amazing talents passing these past few months.

Yes!!! I’ve been thinking the same re losing our iconic talented Australians.

(I must admit I’m still trying to get over the fact that we’ve lost Olivia). 🥺

The tv stations made sure that there was enough Olivia-related movies to not think she is dead.
