But of course you learned nothing about economics and it's development, so you are an unwitting adherent of the current 'Groupthink', in academia.

Thanks Lisa,
yes - you are well read - a sort of intellectual on this forum.

Ha! I don’t think so.

I just love learning as much as I can.

It’s probably why I won a private high school scholarship and got into Arts/Law at Sydney Uni with no trouble.

Anyway .... I had interesting lecturers at Uni who I thought were quite fascinating. Some were/still are well known and highly regarded/respected in the areas of political science.

And yes I was THAT girl who always sat in the middle of the front row constantly asking questions lol.

Some of my questions were cheeky. In fact I was nicknamed Miss Cheeky by the Professor of Political Economy back in the 1990’s BECAUSE my questions to him always had a hidden agenda....mainly to correct him and/or to force him to teach us the full story behind Socialism and Communism Tongue

Thanks Lisa,
well we now know that Monk is a lying commie.

Drunk suffers from dementia and one of its classic symptoms is confabulation. We all now know this about Dumbarse Drunk. Yeah?

He absolutely believes that what he says is true even when the rest of us know it’s not.

Seriously Bobby .... the guy is pushing 80 plus he has long term unaddressed alcohol addiction issues. As such he hasn’t got long. Let him ramble on to himself (his pitiful OzPol sub forum is enough of a clue lol).

Actually I’m more than happy to ignore the Dumbarse Drunk. Let’s just post over the dhead. He doesn’t deserve our energy.

Get lost, idiot!

You read:

The Communist Manifesto, by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. ...

and    Das Kapital, by Karl Marx.

Bobby

I myself was required to read many parts of those published works you’ve listed whilst at Sydney Uni.

Why? So I could submit essays to pass the following 2 subjects in my degree program :

1. Political Economy
2. Government

Whilst I found these works quite boring it was also important for me to read them so as to know exactly how the dysfunctional Communist mind operates.

Edit : I also read certain parts of Mein Kamf for the same reasons ie to submit essays and pass subjects. More importantly it afforded me the opportunity to assess the dysfunctional mentality of a certain German Fascist dictator (whose name doesn’t deserve to be mentioned).

I’m no Marxist/Leninist/Socialist/Communist etc.

I’m no Fascist either.

These extreme political ideologies have been responsible for the deaths of untold millions of people.

That there ought to be a good reason to repudiate and reject both of them IMO!

And yet today the entrenched neoclassical orthodoxy is pauperizing a large number of the  population.

#478.

"In 1975 Denis Healey, the Labour government Chancellor, altered macreconomic policy to one placing more emphasis on monetary policy instruments.
Since then investment and productivity in industry and
manufacturing declined and the balance of payments
for goods collapsed.

The aggregate demand paradigm promoted by Keynes
was taken up by monetarists making use of the Quantity Theory of Money identity (QTM), the guiding principle for monetary policy decisions with the objective of steering a path between inflation and deflation in the prices of goods and services.

The net result has been declining real wages and rising wealth of those dealing in asset holdings and asset trading."

..you still "interested in learning"...?Smiley

Oh sigh ....look who’s followed me in here 😔😐😩

Look here NotSoGreat:

I’ve studied Milton Friedman.

I’ve studied John Maynard Keynes.

I’ve studied micro and macroeconomic theory.

And yes my Uni studies in both Political Economy and Government began by looking very closely at Adam Smith’s invisible hand.

Edit : I also studied Marxist economics, Environmental economics and Feminist economics. These subjects were thought provoking and I found them interesting because I finally had some exposure to the non conservative mentality. And I was able to subsequently critique that mentality more effectively.

Ok NotSoGreat ... you now have my attention.

Talk.

Start by fessing your political stance. After that I’ll fess mine.

I’m not sure what 10 yards means.

I know I can smell a BS artist very easily. And quickly.

Communists and Socialists are BS artists IMO.

Edit : Drunk is in a special padded cell category of his own. And yes his cell is smeared with BS. 😂🤣😆

Ummmmm

Larry said he got a double degree in Modern and Ancient Greek!

I can see language/linguistics/geography/history etc. I don’t see a heavy dose of modern economics in such a double degree (in bullshit!)

Larry is lying, again.

Do people begin to see how Larry aka “Lisa Jones” lies? He lies a LOT!

Larry is a bloke my age or, most likely, older than me! He is single and childless!
'
He CLAIMS a double degree in Ancient and Modern Greek. Now he is dribbling on about having studied all the economic masters of the post WWII age.

Nope! Ancient and modern Greece would cover Homer, Greek geography and history, linguistics and grammar, etc.

So—either Larry never studied at Uni beyond year 1 (drugs, sex and rock and roll) or never studied at Uni at all, just glimpsed some highlights. His catfish is a high school dropout!

I'm a-political, I loathe the current blind leading the blind adversarial political circus.

I propose a system in which the public can choose how  to mobilize the nation's resources, NOT subject to the insanity of neoclassical deadhead "independent" central bankers whose only tool to 'manage' inflation is to cause misery while attempting to control 'inflation' - the many different  causes of which they don't even understand.

[eg how is lifting interest rates going to deal with price rises due to the loss of Ukrainian cereal crops and Russian fuels on the global market?]

As for Smith's "invisible hand", it only works in a simple pre-corporatist, non global supply-chain age,  where individual craftsmen compete with one another, ie it's obsolete as a basis for economic theory.

Ahh so every time I see “1 yard” I should be thinking “approx 1 metre”. That might be the easiest way for me to remember that. Thanks Bobby. iHalf a yard is 1.5 feet.

It’s not obsolete as it provides a basis for teaching the history of economic theory at Uni.

In fact if you really know what you’re talking about you’d agree that the same may be said for all economic theories. In their pure form of course.

Now let’s go back and deal with your alleged apolitical stance - we both know that’s not true.

So let’s make things a tad easier.

In the following continuum:

far left : centre left : centre right : far right

Where do you (roughly) slot in?
