Australia as a US proxy in a war with China
May 6th, 2023 at 2:50pm

Can Australia afford, like Ukraine, to be America's proxy in a war with China?

"People who bite the hand that feeds them usually lick the boot that kicks them"
Erick Hoffer

The fact is that Australia has benefited enormously economically from good relations with China.
Since the US pressure to change its attitude towards China, Australia is experiencing its own economic downturn
with the prospect of other negative consequences, both in terms of economy and  and national security.

Do we need to be always politically correct.
In the world of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

It will be costly. But, if China does attack Taiwan, Australia will have to do its part to bankrupt the Chinese war machine. I doubt that military confrontation would come to pass.

athos is talking about US control. He means that US ordered Australia to ask about China's role in covid.

Oh, who cares where it originated? Morrison should not have been such Scummo by asking the question in the first place. But, it did reveal the fragility of China's ego. And much of Australia did manage to damage control by finding alternate markets for the boycott China imposed. I wonder how well the Chinese managed shivering with blackouts during the winter of this year with not enough coal to be supplied for energy.

By 1930, foreign investment in China totaled 3.5 billion, with Japan leading (1.4 billion) followed by the United Kingdom (1 billion).
China benefited from Japanese wealth and would have prospered under Japan's empire. Athos would have better manners if he was Japanese.
