No - it's just another rubber stamp:

https://republic.org.au/policy
The Australian Choice Model ensures the role of Head of State is ceremonial in nature,
with limited powers to safeguard and maintain the constitutional order and resolve political gridlock.

An Australian rubber stamp which resides in Australia, and is not born into the position.

A much, much better (although not perfect) alternative.

I want someone who has the guts to reject unfair legislation -
at least it would have stopped the despot dictator Dan Andrews in Victoria
during the Covid crisis -
he forced people to accept medical procedures against their will
in violation of every human rights charter ever written -
even against the Nuremberg principles that war criminals were hanged for.

Do you want a Head of State who lives here and who is not born into the position?

That would be better -
but I want someone who has the guts to take on the Govt.
when presented with outrageous legislation -
not a rubber stamp.

Read item 3. 129 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice

In recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia:

(1) There shall be a body to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice;

(2) The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;

(3) The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures

If Australians don't have the "self-esteem" (favourite Republican theme) to reject such Parliamentary power before the Referendum, they certainly will not question anything under a President, and the Republican movement will be a rubber stamp for the whingers and the politically correct. For all their failings, at least the Americans, Russians and French put their lives on the line.

“Pledging allegiance to the head of another country is woeful. We should have an Australian head of state.

Queen of Denmark abdicated, Frederik and Mary will be King and Queen on 14 Jan.

Invite one of their kiddies - all half-Australians -  to be the Monarch of Australia.

Republican debate sorted - Australian head of state.
